Soil testing work for flyover under progress at Battala-Drop Gate route, project work in full swing: CE

AGARTALA, July 21 (TIWN): The flyover construction work is going on full swing from Agartala Battala to Drop Gate area with a target to complete the entire work by 30 months as tied by the state government. “We have already kicked off the project work and is currently undergoing in full swing,” said PWD Engineer in Chief Sunil Bhowmik. However, the soil testing work is currently in progress at the mentioned route and is likely to take the stretch towards Fire brigade Chowmuhni very soon. At present the entrusted Nagarjuna Construction Company (NCC) has undertaken the soil testing work in at least 10 spots from Battala to Drop Gate amongst which 4 to 5 has been completed. At the meantime the engineers are also actively engaged to the work for making the strictures of the pillars over which the two lane flyover road would be erected. Despite the bad weather the engineers of the NCC are actively engaged to the entire project work. The main work for the flyover construction is in progress at the centre point at Battala which would link the flyover from Drop Gate to Fire brigade Chowmuhni. Besides, talking to TIWN on Tuesday DM (West) Dr. Milind Ramteke said that the state government had not yet directed the concerned administration in regard of the encroachment process which was suspended for temporarily at Bordowali and Drop Gate area.

Tripura government had challenged the occupants of khash land saying that they might take any kind legal step regarding the encroachment process to be taken up soon for the construction of Agartala’s first flyover. Once the encroachment is done the two lane road beneath the flyover would come up to facilitate 70 per cent of the vehicles coming from South and enters the Nagerjala bus stand, said PWD Minister Badal Chowdhury in the recent past.

The flyover was a long term demand of the city dwellers and it needs to be introduced soon to contain heavy traffic congestion which is increasing along with the moving hands of the clock.

Earlier panic triggered among the section of locals at Bordowali and Drop gate area regarding the encroachment process. But Minister had clarified that only the khash land would be encroached which was illegally acquired by the people whereas during the procedure if any jyut land falls under the state government will pay compensation to the families.

DM said that once the state government gives a green signal the concerned administration would kick off the encroachment process which is stalled now temporarily.

The encroachment issue has hit eviction drive to be carried out by the administration, following which DM West had assured that after conducting enquiry the land acquisition would be carried out.

Despite bad weather the entrusted engineers of the Nagarjuna Construction Company are actively engaged to the construction work of Agartala’s first ever 2 lane flyover road which would link Drop Gate with Fire brigade Chowmuhni via Battala.

After Battala, considered to be the main centre point of the flyover construction work, the engineers had carried out the drilling procedure up till Bordowali area amidst deployment of traffic police.
