AGARTALA, July 22 (TIWN): The Opposition congress on Wednesday accusing the CPI-M and its ruling Left front government in Tripura has claimed that in the name of BPL families the Govt. servants, businessman, owners of acres of land of rubber plantation, people earning more than Rs. 10, 000 per annum are made the true beneficiaries of BPL Card. Meeting with the Governor Tathagata Roy on Wednesday the congress claimed that the exercise to identify priority household to avail the benefits of National Food Security Act, 2013 have been made farce by the party in power. Even the elected representatives of opposition political parties have not been taken into confidence and the entire lists are being prepared by the party cadres, claimed the congress.PCC President Birajit Sinha said, “A large section of the poor and down trodden section of the society has been intentionally left out since they do not owe allegiance towards the party in power.” Adding Sinha claimed that the congress have been demanding the state government since long to rectify and amend the BPL listed families, but as of now the government has not initiated any steps in bringing out corrected BPL card holders’ list.

However, the congress on Wednesday finding loopholes in the implementation of Food Security Act also claimed that the F.P. Shop dealers are collecting original ration cards of those whose names have been reflected in the priority list.

However the congress had sought Governor’s intervention in ensuring that Draft List as prepared be provided to all recognised political parties in the respective sub-divisions and a minimum time period of 2 months be provided for filing claims and objections.
