UDAIPUR, July 24 (TIWN): Resentment brewed up among the residents of Udaipur Sonamura Chowmuhani area on Thursday morning when a man bought a mineral water bottle from a road side shop of Biva Company and found some contaminating germs in the sealed bottle.

The man is identified Sudhangshu Das.

However, at that moment he dint protest anything rather he bought one more bottle of some other company and drank.

Further, he met with Udaipur Food controller S.Debbarma with the bottle and told him the entire issue. However, Food controller Debbarma asked him to meet DM Sonal Goel and later he met ADM T.L.Chakma.

After hearing the plea of the Sudhangshu, ADM asked him to file a written complaint and expressed displeasure over this incident and said will look into this matter.

The high levels of bacteria in bottled water could pose a risk for vulnerable populations such as pregnant women, infants, immune compromised patients and the elderly and this is pathetic that germs are found in sealed mineral package bottles.

In sizzling summer, when demand of potable water increases, it is a boom time for those selling refilled water in used mineral water bottles to passengers, especially those travelling over long distance. Although, the water filled in these bottles is often from taps on. But those involved in it, do not mind filling the water and selling it for Rs10 to Rs15 to the people. The menace goes on under the nose of the authorities but those involved in this dirty trade are never caught.
