AGARTALA, July 22 (TIWN): The recently fixed point-to-point auto-rickshaw fare chart has brought no change to the unruly auto drivers across the capital city with the drivers charging high fares.

Even after the Tripura High Court’s Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Subhasish Talapatra has directed to install point-to-point fares along auto-permits, none of the auto drivers has implemented this point-to-point auto fares.  Rather showing a thumb finger to the HC order and Violating the law and order of the Tripura HC, the unruly auto drivers across the capital city are found charging high fares as per their mood.

Even after several doldrums, although the State government has finally implemented the order of High Court of Tripura to install point – to- point fares along auto permit to carry the verified fare chart for all the routes it is seen that none of the auto drivers has shown any eagerness to follow this rule rather they are charging the hiked fare price from the passengers.

As per the direction all the drivers to paste the point to point fare rate chart in their auto but hardly some counting drivers has pasted  the rate chart in their autos. Interestingly, those who have pasted the point-to-point rate chart it is just for the namesake and none of them has effectively implemented the fare of the rate chart and are continuously demanding hiked fare from the passengers.

Even if some passengers asked the auto drivers to keep the fare as per the point -to-point fare the drivers harasses the passengers and misbehaves with them.

After so many days of the direction of the HC none of the direction is followed by the CITU backed auto drivers in the Agartala city. It completely shows the negligent attitude of the traffic department and the state government.  Day after day the auto drivers are harassing the passengers with their misrule but no action is taken against them.

Apart they are also found carrying maximum passengers, while the department is in yawning siesta with no necessary steps has been taken till today against the CITU baked auto drivers. Despite High Court direction to carry only 3 passengers at a time, it was noticed that that auto rickshaw drivers were carrying 4 to 5 passengers in the broad day light under the eye of the Traffic police in the streets of Agartala.

It has also been noticed that a section of unruly auto drivers carries maximum passengers and let the extra passengers climb down after reaching near to the police barricades. And later again crossing the barricade the drivers picks those passengers again and ply their auto.
