AGARTALA, Nov 4 (TIWN): Although the work has progressed in faster speed at Agartala- Kumarghat railway track but the work progress is stalled at different spots of Agartala-Karimganj railway track due to several problems. It is to be mentioned here that the trial run for the trolley on the 109km of Agartala – Kumarghat Broad gauge (BG) railway track has kicked off successfully at the Agartala railway station in presence of NFR officials but similarly the work progress might get delayed at the Agartala-Karimganj railway station. It is to be mentioned here that several problems on the Agartala-Karimganj railway station at several spots including at Pecharthal, Panisagar, Dharmanagar, and other spots.Due to lack of grip of the sand it is becoming problematic to lay the track at Pecharthal and Panisagar and Dharmanagar. However, the NFR workers are trying their best the complete the work in the given tenure. However, it is also to be mentioned here that NFR has already decided to build a road over bridge at Teliamura as the people has been demanding for a road over bridge at Teliamura since October 1. Although the BG conversion work is stalled at Teliamura but as the NFR has promised, a road over bridge will be constructed soon to facilitate easy transportation to the people of Teliamura.

Keeping in mind the local people’s demand, the NFR has decided to build the bridge at the earliest.

It is to be mentioned here that the local people of Teliamura have stalled the BG conversion work at Teliamura in demand of road over bridge since October 1. Due to the strong confrontation from the side of the villagers BG conversion work could not be taken up at around 800 meter area of Teliamura.

Indian Railways connectivity in India’s north eastern region will get boost with the launch of the first ever broad gauge goods trains to Agartala. The latest trend of work at Agartala railway station shows that days are not so far when people of Tripura can travel long distances in BG trains and get connected to rest of the part of the country.
