CM Manik Sarkar inaugurates vegetable market building

AGARTALA, Nov 4 (TIWN): With the aim of accommodating the existing vendors shops at Durga chowmuhani, a 2 storey vegetable Market stall was inaugurated by Chief minister Manik Sarkar on Wednesday.

The Durga Chowmuhani vegetable market shed is constructed in a total area of 1470.21 sqmt with the initiative of the Agartala Municipal Corporation.

The project commenced in the year 2013 on 25th February and was inaugurated on Wednesday by CM Manik Sarkar

Addressing the launching program CM Manik Sarkar said that this vegetable market stall is constructed to provide the best facilities to the businessmen to carry out their business peacefully at Durga Chowmuhani.

This building would help the businessmen to manage a place, where they can sit and continue their business, added Sarkar.

The market shed was constructed as the existing market area was facing problem in doing business and could no longer accommodate all the vendors, said Sarkar.

It is to be mentioned here that a total of Rs 600 lakhs is spent for the construction of the 2 storey building at Durga Chowmuhani. However, what makes this market stall different from that of others is that it has a parking area of 392.0 sqmt.  Apart it also has the ramp facility and three stair case.

The market shed consists of 28 stalls in the ground floor and 29 platforms and 111 platforms at the first platform.

There are two separate toilets in both the floors for gents and ladies in the stall.

In a bid to improve the facilities to the vendors of Durga Chowmuhani area this initiative is taken to provide the best amenities to vendors for the improved business in the area, said rural development minister Manik Dey at the inaugural program.

Addressing the gathering, Dey also stressed on the urgent need for waste management, proper sanitation and portable water facility in the market.

He also applauded the initiative taken up by the departments for taking such initiatives and constructing a market stall to accommodate the existing shops in the area.

However, CM Manik Sarkar, Rural development minister Manik Dey AMC Mayor Prafullajit Sinha, MLA Ratan Das along with other dignitaries remained present in the program.
