Union Minister met BJP state president Sudhindra Dasgupta on Tuesday evening and discussed on 3 major issues affecting lakhs of people. State BJP chief while talking to TIWN over phone said that ‘Mudra Bank Yojna’ is an wise initiative taken by PM Narendra Modi to financially empower the poor people regardless of children, adolescent and grown-ups in family. “As Tripura is suffering due to CPI-M Govt.’s failure to make the state economically stable, so this scheme will be very much helpful to upgrade the financial condition of the poor people in stateâ€. CBI team headed by Jt Director Rajiv Sin | AGARTALA / KOLKATA, Sep 23 (TIWN): CBI Joint Director Rajiv Singh and DIG S Bagchi arrived at the CBI headquarters in Odisha’s capital city Bhubaneswar on Tuesday to take stock of the investigation conducted so far in the Rose Valley chit fund scam, sources in the agency said. The senior CBI officials reached Bhubanewswar at around 10 am on Tuesday and scheduled a meeting with the investigating officers of Rose Valley and CBI SP in Bhubaneswar Rajiv Ranjan to discuss the evidence gathered till date from the Shibamoy Dutta, Managing Director (MD) of Rose Valley group and Director & Tripura Operations Head Ashok Kumar Saha, who are in CBI custody for seven days. On September 17, a Special CBI court here had granted CBI permission to take Dutta and Saha on a seven-day remand to interrogate them about their alleged involvement in the multi-thousand crore chit fund scam. Earlier, a designated CBI court in Kolkata had allowed the agency to take Dutta and Saha on transit remand till September 17 to produce them in Bhubaneswar where the case has been registered by the agency, CBI sources said.CBI had arrested both the accused earlier for their active involvement in cheating the public and misappropriation of public funds. | 22-Sep-2015 |

The district magistrate, reportedly extended his long leave after he was directed to appear physically in the court. The additional district also wants to go for long leave. RD department: 'Timer Scandal' tainted | AGARTALA, Sep 22 (TIWN): The rural development department of the state is reportedly expanding corrupt activities from grassroot to top level. Lack of planning in the department, one man show is paving the path to loot taxpayer’s money by section of officials. On September 11, a meeting was held in the office chief engineer of RD department. The meeting was chaired by Dr.Gomatham Srinivasa G. Ayyangar, Principal Secretary of RD department. Among others were present Rupan Debbarma, chief engineer, executive engineers, assistant engineers and superintendent engineers of the department. Various work of the department was reviewed in the meeting.In the meeting, Ayyangar reported to have said that from now on the department will procure some items directly from other state. He specified categorically – marvel, tiles, granite and electrical wires will be procured directly. All will kept in the store of RD department, later will be supplied to construction sites.At present, through tenders the department procures various construction and other items. As a result local traders and suppliers are benefitted. According to some, Ayyangar issued the fatwa only to start the commission culture in the department.Earlier there were report of extensive financial anomalies in the department. After the recent directive it will increase corruption instead of applying brakes to it. Transport Dept’s ‘double-ga | AGARTALA, Sep 22 (TIWN): CPI-M backed unruly auto drivers once again displaying their ugly colours after few days of the point-to-point auto fare enforcement by Transport Dept after dozen of complaints were lodged by the passengers. Although total 52 auto drivers have been suspended for extracting extra fare from passengers, but shockingly after few days of so called ‘enforcement’, the situation again back to square one. Attitude of the drivers seems never changed till the state govt. doesn’t care to take actions seriously. The matter has come to limelight once again when bundles of complaints started to gather from passenger victims. Being the Chairman of CITU himself Minister Manik Dey remained numb and shy not to utter any word against the rougue auto-drivers over excess auto fares. Reportedly on September 14, in total of 52 auto drivers were suspended for 3 months and their licenses had also been seized basing on the complaints gathered in last 1 month which were submitted to the Dept. by common people against the auto drivers. Then it was decided that these following auto drivers would not be allowed anyhow to drive at least 3 months on road.But unfortunately, maximum auto drivers belonging to CITU, which is a CPI-M’s Trade Union, so with political power they tend again to rob passengers. However, a meeting has been held on Monday morning between the members of governing body under RMSA, and Tripura Education Dept., chaired by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar himself. In this meeting Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty, Chief Secretary Yashpal Singh along with other officials under RMSA governing body were present, where various issues of Education dept. including RMSA wages had been discussed. But the impact of the meeting yet to be seen.From the govt. side it had been earlier declared that central govt. had stop to allocate funds for the RMSA employees. NLFT’s plans to bomb Agartala dur | AGARTALA, Sept 20 (TIWN): 3 NLFT Militants were nabbed by police on Saturday who were allegedly involved in a plan to blast Agartala city during Durga Puja 2015. Alike 2008, this year also NLFT planned to create violence in Tripura and a 6 members team had been planned to make to succeed the blast incident. Sources say that in the hilly parts of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT), those youths had been trained and thus selected for this mission and more 6 members team were to made, especially for this blast.At first, police caught 2 persons namely Kanendra Tripura and Binduram Tripura when they were entering Ananda Bazar via Mayani Reserve forest. Sources say that, they are members of NLFT and getting trained by NLFT’s camp based in CHT. Police got information through sources and caught the suspected terrorists. After arrest and police interrogation, found another NLFT Militant Rajesh Debbarma, resident of Bisramganj. Later, it was known that to take 6 members for training under this mission they had come to Tripura. 'Once Train stops running from Sept 20, | AGARTALA, Sep 20 (TIWN): “NH-44’s continuous deplorable condition may bring crisis within the state, ‘except food’, as Tripura has atleast 3 month’s food storageâ€, said Transport Secretary Samarjit Bhowmik while talking to TIWN on Saturday evening. According to Transport Secretary, Tripura has enough food storage for 3 months, other daily commodities items like vegetable, oil crisis may escalate with NH-44’s worsen condition partly due to Assam Govtâ€. Bhowmik further said,†NH-44 renovation work under progress, but all works are done on temporary basis, as rainy season needs to be ended; and during winter season the road will not be stressed so muchâ€. He also mentioned, DM North had confirmed that the NH-44 repair work has been started but it may take 2-3 months more to be complete as the damaged roads are being filled on temporary basis, so no permanent solution till the wet season is over. Agreeing to the fact that NH-44 needs to be renovated urgently he said, “we do not have any control over Assam Govt. Moreover rail-line is going to stop from Sunday for next 6 months, which will create more pressure on NH-44â€. “Road will be the replacement of rail from September 20; naturally NH-44 has to be used as the supplement of Rail-lineâ€, said Transport Secretary Samarjit Bhowmik. Tripura Govt Depts’ Outstanding P | AGARTALA, Sept 20 (TIWN): The various departments of the Tripura government owe a staggering Rs 47.36 crore to the Tripura State Electricity Corporation (TSECL)- these power bills are pending till July 15, 2015.The power bills of around 41 government departments are unpaid for the past two years†said an official of TSECL requesting anonymity told TIWN. According to a status report on power bills prepared , the DWS j Department tops the list with around 15.27crore closely followed by the Irrigation (Panchayat Department) with `7.72 crore.The Home Department owes around 6 crores.The TSECL official, however, clarified that despite the stunning figures of pending bills, power connection to the departments will not be cut as most of their services come under the emergency category. Government departments with multiple connections usually don’t pay bills on a regular basis because of budgetary constraints. Most of them pay only when they are granted funds by the State government. The TSECL officials hope to get the bills cleared after the budget allocations of 2016.From private consumers an amount of Rs 52.27 crore and from central government department Rs 4.48 are pending. At various undertaking government departments Rs 5.02 crore is pending.
