Agartala, Septeber 22 (TIWN): Around 2 lakh social pension holders belonging to under privilege section of the society are not getting pension for July last month. Although, the state government have decided to pay September salary them prepare for Eid and Durg Puja celebration.

Under the directive, government employees will receive their salaries on September 23.Pensionrs will also get their pensions on September 23. Department of Finance has begun the necessary measures to implement the decision. As per rules of central treasury salary pension of September is paid on October 1. It is mentionable here that Id will be celebrated on September 25 and Durga Puja on October.

The three social pensions under central scheme – Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension, Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension and Indira Gandhi National Physically Challenged Pension covers 2 lakh people in the state. Each pension holders receive Rs 500 per month  and those above 80 years receive Rs 700 per month. The state social welfare and social education department have stopped the social pension of 2 lakh people do to some unknown reasons. The beneficiaries are knocking the doors of CDPOs every day for their pension, but every time they return back without any assurance from CDPOs.

Report says, the centre have already sanctioned the amount. But due to some mysterious reason the department is not disbursing the amount among the beneficiaries. Serious discontent is brewing among the beneficiaries.

Surprisingly, all other social pensions given by the state government are regularly disbursed other then three pension of the centre. Even the minister of the department is aware about the issue, but she has no time to resolve it. The minister is busy in giving lectures in seminars and inaugurating programmes.
