AGARTALA, Sept 21 (TIWN): Altogether 165 workers under Rashtriya Madhamik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA) remained unpaid since last 3 months when the central govt. stopped the allocated fund for the state. However, a meeting has been held on Monday morning between the members of governing body under RMSA, and Tripura Education Dept., chaired by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar himself. In this meeting Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty, Chief Secretary Yashpal Singh along with other officials under RMSA governing body were present, where various issues of Education dept. including RMSA wages had been discussed. But the impact of the meeting yet to be seen. From the govt. side it had been earlier declared that central govt. had stop to allocate funds for the RMSA employees. Therefore the state is so far failed to pay them. According to the reports, clerks and lab assistants who are working under RMSA, are unpaid since 3 months and presently their jobs are also at a risk.As a result tension prevails within the 156 workers.

On Monday,  a meeting was thus held between the officials at Secretariat’s Conf. room No.2 chaired by Tripura CM and the problem of RMSA employees’ wages ought to be discussed. However, the main purpose of the meeting was regarding how to improve the education system and how to provide quality education in various schools.

It’s to be mentioned that before few years, under Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan 154 workers had been engaged in the posts of clerks and lab assitants. Although central govt. approved their jobs but in the following days govt. stopped their wages. RMSA workers raised voice at several times regarding their wages to DM and also to Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty. But state govt. with the excuse that central govt. had stopped to send money keeps the workers unpaid.

According to Tripura State govt., as the whole project comes under central govt. so the payments would be done by the govt. at the centre.

But allegations are coming, if state govt. wished, then their payments had been paid, as earlier also in other fields Tripura govt. had showed that example . For example, in health dept. in total of 250 workers had been paid with 6000/- per month by NHM(National Health Mission). When their jobs had been expired under centre govt. 1 year tenure, Tripura state govt. involved them in other departments. So if govt. wants then the problem of 156 workers may be solved, claimed deprived.
