Ration shops to provide additional allocations for Durga Puja

AGARTALA, September 21 (TIWN): Keeping eye on the ensuing auspicious occasion of the Durga Puja festival, special initiatives has been taken to provide food grains at the ration shops of the state.

It is worthy to mention that the State Government has taken initiatives to provide additional allocation to the consumers of the Ration Shop.

The items comprises of Sugar, Wheat, Flour and Semolina.

The consumers can get their additional allocation in the month of October.

Detailing about the allocation, it has been mentioned that the consumers of the ration who are getting one kilogram of Sugar recently, in the month of October they can take additional one kilogram of Sugar.

Besides, it has also been said that the consumers who are getting 600 gram of Sugar every month, in month of October for Durga Puja ration will be provided with additional 600 gram of Sugar.

Further, all the consumers of Ration shop will be provided with additional one kilogram of wheat and two kilogram of Flour.

Beside, the consumers who are registered under Priority group and Antyodaya Anna Yojana will be provided with 500 gram of Semolina on the occasion of Durga Puja.

It is worthy to mention that the state Government is taking initiatives to provide additional allocation to the consumers of the Ration Shop on the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja but the fact of rise in the cost of the items in the ration shop cannot be ignored.

However, hike in the cost of the items of the Ration Shop has became another headache for the consumers. On the other hand, the vegetable markets and the other commodities are also not showing any sign of relief from the rising prices.

The National Food Security Act, 2013 is an Act of the Parliament of India which aims to provide subsidized food grains to population of the country. It was signed into law on September 12, 2013, retroactive to July 5, 2013.

The National Food Security Act, 2013 converts into legal entitlements for existing food security programmes of the Government of India. It includes the Midday Meal Scheme, Integrated Child Development Services scheme and the Public Distribution System. Further, the NFSA 2013 recognizes maternity entitlements.
