No hope for justice to rape victims in Manik’s Golden era: CM's silence with opposition Cong. is a part of his diplomacy

AGARTALA, Sep 21 (TIWN): In Manik’s golden era “safety of women” has become a NON-Issue. Everyday rapes, women murders including minors doesn’t panic the so called 'clean' image of Tripura CM.

Lots of funds are being sanctioned every year for these NGOs,but at the end of the day it ends with few awareness campaigns or workshops as most ofthe funds are gobbled by CPI-M.

Although opposition parties  alwaya indulge in cheap politics to save political brothers but it doesn't solve problems of society.

In reality opposition are not sensative about the crimes  when their close persons are found involved in heinous rape-incidents,  Cong. prefer to remain silent.

Few days back, Cong. asked CM Manik Sarkar to leave the post as home Minister, as he has failed to reduce crimes in State.

But when allegations came against Cong. MLA Gopal Roy’s secrity guard, Cong. instead of helping the victim, warned the family to be silent.

Such an incident occurred with a minor, allegedly where Cong. MLA Gopal Roy’s security guard Litan Debnath raped her. Complaint had been lodged against Litan Debnath by victim’s father, then threats had been issued by the Cong. picketers  to the victim’s family. At last  the victim had to run their own house.

According to the reports, after the complaint had been lodged against Litan Debnath various kinds of pressures came upon the victim’s family to withdraw the complaint.

Threats of various kinds including murder and acid-attack etc frightened victim's family. However, presently the victims family has been sheltered at Amarpur after they left their house at Agartala Arundhuti Nagar as they felt that town ‘unsafe’ at their daughter.

Surpisingly none of the CPI-M leaders cared to stand beside the family. Chairperson of Tripura Commission for Women Purnima Roy, who claims that the crime against women has dicreased in the state, in reality crimes instead of dicreasing are increasing day by day.

There are many women leaders in town who claim themselves as the well-wisher of women as SFI women-leader Krishna Rakshit, CPI-M leader Rama Das, Jharna Das Baidya who are just enjoying the dignity of the chair without doing any help to the victims. Cong. women leaders as Panna Deb, Ratna Datta, Milan Das, Kalyani Dey and Himani Debbarma also have remained silent after the rape of minor.

It’s to be mentioned that Cong leaders such as Sudip Roy Burman, Sushanta Chaudhury attack CPI-M frequently, in this case nobody bothered to utter a word aganst Cong MLA Gopal Roy as it may hamper their political image or to maintain the political relations.

CM Manik Sarkar never attacks the opposition Cong. directly as a part of diplomacy which has been maintained since last 22 years, as Cong. is recognized as the safest competitor of CPI-M. So  direct attack to MLA Gopal Roy’s family persons may be harmful for ruling govt. as in any allegation brought against Cong., CM has to pay double as Cong. may voice against CPI-M leaders wicked acts in return more loudly.

As a result, the victim’s family chose to remain silent. Demanding for proper justice in this golden-era are not anyhow possible, as Tripura CM’s role over rape incidents are just a mute spectator.
