Tripura Power Plants production outage d | AGARTALA, Sept 16 (TIWN): Tripura’s grave power-cut scenario sliding into further darkness due to various technical problems prevailing within the power plants followed by insufficient gas supplies by ONGC. Minister Manik Dey while talking to TIWN said, electricity problem hit hard in state due to the problems of Tripura based power plants. He added, Baramura power plant is producing 30 MW, whereas it was expected to produce atleast 42 MW. Moreover Palatana Power plant is also going to shut down for 6 days due to maintence work of Gas Pipe line expectedly from September 29th. Surprisingly,OTPC MD Mukul Banerjee while talking to TIWN, declined to mention any problem within Palatana Power Plant. OTPC General Manager Mukul Banerjee said, “Presently Palatana Power Plant has no problems at all and its running very smoothlyâ€. It’s to be mentioned that another plant namely Monarchak power plant has already declared to be shut down for seven months. Till March 2016 it would remain shut down due to the unavailability of gas from ONGC. However, the Rokhia and Baramura gas-based power plants in Tripura was tow converted into the combined cycle mode to generate additional power without using extra fuel, Tripura Power Minister Manik Dey earlier told media. The NEEPCO, which runs under the Union Power ministry, is commissioning a 101-MW gas-based thermal power plant at Monarchak. SC blasts CBI for slowing down on Sarada | NEW DELHI / AGARTALA, Sept 16 (TIWN): A division bench of Justice T.S.Thakur and Justice C. Nagappa remarked that there "should be a CBI probe against CBI for not promoting staffers inside CBI"."You (CBI) have created the present situation because of your own apathy towards the problem on which you keep harping upon," it said adding that the agency, which does not promote its own people, keeps alleging non-cooperation by the state police.The court had earlier sought response from the Central Bureau of Investigation CBI) on several counts relating to its staff strength - both of its own and those coming from the states on deputation - as it was told that it had 754 vacancies as its staff strength and particularly how the investigators were unmatched to the undertaking of probing the Saradha and non-Saradha chit fund scam cases. Asking the CBI to fill up the vacancies, the court said: "You have been telling Kolkata people (to provide it with investigators to probe chit fund scam). Tell us, what have you done to bring 317 persons (total vacancies under deputation quota) into your own fold." Lawless Tripura's Golden era : Another u | AGARTALA, Sept 15 (TIWN): On yet another bizarre incident, another unidentified dead body has been recovered from behind the Administrative block of the Bir Bikram Memorial College on Tuesday morning. After getting the information the team of police of College Tilla out post rushed to the spot and recovered the body from the spot. However, the police also scrutinized the spot but could not manage to find out any clue.According to the police report, it has been suspected that it can be a murder case or suicide. Bangladesh HUJI, NSCN Militants' plan to | GUWAHATI / AGARTALA, Sept 15 (TIWN): A plan by insurgent outfit NSCN-K to blow up a major bridge in Assam's Silchar town connecting the Barak Valley to the state's neighbouring Dima Hasao district and Manipur was busted on Tuesday, police said. Four people have been arrested in this connection.Two militants of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang (NSCN-K), involved in the plot, managed to escape. The security forces -- comprising police and Assam Rifles -- recovered the explosives meant to be used in blowing up the Sadarghat bridge, Cachar Superintendent of Police Rajveer said.Four "local accomplices" were arrested during the operation, the police official said.An improvised explosive device, detonator and about 60 gelatin sticks were recovered."Based on information, security forces cordoned off Sonai area in Silchar in the early hours of Tuesday. We arrested four people from the place and seized some explosives."During interrogation, those arrested revealed that they were harbouring the NSCN-K militants who planned to blow up the Sadarghat bridge," the police official said.The two NSCN-K militants, however, escaped under the cover of darkness, he said.The four arrested persons were identified as Ataur Rahman Laskar, Afzal Hussain Laskar, Azmal Hussain Laskar and Maskar Ali Laskar. | 15-Sep-2015 |
Fire service Department and AMC conducte | AGARTALA, September 15 (TIWN): Tripura Fire Service Department on Tuesday conducted a fire safety mock drill at the various malls of the capital. The mock drill programme started at around 9 am in the morning. The operation has been observed at the ML Plaza shopping malls, Aitorma building owner and the Bazaar Kolkata. During the operation, District Magistrate (West) Milindh Ramteke, Director of Fire Service Nepal Das along with the AMC Task force and the other officials of the fire service visited the spot.One hydraulic fire tender and a mini-van of the fire brigade reached the mall to conduct a staged fire-rescue operation. However, there was no panic and people easily evacuated the mall. As it was the morning time, there were not many people present in the mall at that time, except the employees of the showroom.During the mock drill programme initiated in the shopping malls, the building was evacuated and the fire fighters organised the drills. They piped water inside the malls and examining the fire safety.The series of drill has been conducted to know about the shortcomings in case any emergency occurs here. Although the drill was planned at the malls but the fire fighters has initiated the rescue work just like they are rescuing during the real emergency situation. Since the operation started in the morning hours, the footfall at the mall was manageable for conducting the drill in a proper manner. People were told about the drill while the others at the mall had also performed a rehearsal prior to the staged rescue operation.During the operation conducted at the Aitorma building, Milindh Ramteke said that every mall should have road all around it. In total more than 1 lakh of investors had been cheated.However, the exact amount right now CBI could not unearth as the amount is huge, but its surely 4 times more scam than Sarada, informed CBI.According to CBI, Rose Valley MD Shibomoy Duttal initiated 2 schemes which were his own creations: these are Ashirbaad & Holiday Membership, which promised to return money with big amount of interest by banks.The group's chairman Gautam Kundu is already behind bars arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act for mobilising public money without proper sanction of the Securities and Exchange Board of India."The directors - Shibamoy Dutta and Ashok Kumar Saha - were arrested from the city. They allegedly had long association with the group and were active in conspiring with Gautam Kundu, in cheating and misappropriation of funds," said a CBI officer.Director Shibomoy Dutta was also invoved in another chit fund group before he started Rose Valley. Allegely he was the mastermind who had released one after one new schemes to cheat the people and grab their moneys.Rose Valley has in total 8 divisional offices, 21 regional offices, 880 branches, 20 lakhs of registered agents.
