Nabbed NLFT sent to police custody; sets up camp  likely near chief minister official residence

Agartala, September 21 (TIWN): Acting on intelligence report, the security agency have managed to nab three alleged NLFT militants – Karnendu Debbarma, Binduram Debbarma and Rajesh Debbarma. After being produced in court on Sunday, all three were sent to three days police custody till September 23. All are now kept in separate cells of West Agartala police station for interrogation.

Preliminary interrogation suggests all three have close  ties to NLFT. Their arrests have revealed, the outlawed militant organization have set up base very close to  chief minister residence and police headquarters. From there they are planning to carry terror activities in the capital during Durga Puja. However, the intelligence branch has succeeded to derail     their plan.

Police claim that the nabbed person were in regular touch with some influential persons of the capital. They remained in touch with the help of cell phone and internet using code words and signs. The security agency managed to get some vital information. In coming days few more person will be arrested by police.   

 Police is continuing its interrogation to find out if the militants had any plan like the series of blast they had conducted in capital Agartala in October 2008 just before the festival of Eid and Durga Puja.
 
NLFT, into its second decade of armed movement for an independent Tripura nation,  is now going for its third round of peace talk with the India government . But some hard-line activists are opposing return to normal life and are planning to fight on.
