Governor and CM greet people on the occasion of Eid

AGARTALA, September (TIWN): Governor Tathagata Roy extended his warm greetings to people on the auspicious occasion of Eid al-adha or Eid ul-joha.

In his message to the people of the state, Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy has extended good wishes and warm greetings to all the citizens of the state.

He further expressed his desire to people that this festival will enriches the lives with tradition of giving and sharing with a spirit of brotherhood. He also wished that may this festival reinforce the commitment of the citizens of the state towards mutual harmony.

Besides, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar also extended his warm wishes to the people of the state, particularly to the Muslim brothers and sisters.

In his message he said that when the country is facing disintegration and division, this festive season will bring brotherhood with the Muslim brothers and sisters of the state.

In the religion of Islam, 'Id Al-Adha or Eid al-Adha "Festival of the Sacrifice" is a major festival that takes place at the end of the Hajj. It is also known as 'Id al-Qurban or al-'Id al-Kabir (Major Festival). Eid al-Adha marks the completion of the hajj (pilgrimage) rites at Mina, Saudi Arabia, but is also observed by Muslims throughout the world to commemorate the faith of Ibrahim (Abraham).

Eid Al-Adha begins on the 10th of Dhu'l-Hijja, the last month of the Islamic calendar, and lasts for four days. It begins the day after Muslims on the Hajj descend from Mount Arafat.
