AGARTALA, Sep 23 (TIWN): The entire district of South Tripura is under the grip of alleged scam of Rs 10 crore at Rupaichari Block. The district magistrate, reportedly extended his long leave after he was directed to appear physically in the court. The additional district also wants to go for long leave. For last few years, crores and crores of funds was siphoned off in blocks across the state.In the case of multi crore scam of Bishalghar RD block police have arrested some accused person. In the case of Rupaichari Block the government is acting as mute spectator. The district administration officials are having sleepless nights after PIL was filed in the High Court of Tripura demanding CBI investigation for alleged scams in blocks.To avoid appearance in court the officials are in rush to go for long leave.
The High Court has directed principal secretary of RD department, GSG Ayyangar and DM South Debashis Basu to appear physically on October 5. Regarding court direction severe tension prevails in the entire South District Administration.
After the filling of PIL in court before beginning of hearing, D. Basu, DM of South Tripura went for long leave. In between the direction of court was issued for appearing physically on October 5. it was reported, that the DM after court direction extended his leave. The in -charge DM, Ravel Hemendra Kumar also wants to go on leave to avoid appearing in court on October 5.
It is mentionable here that since April 1, 2012 to March 31, 2014 14 crore 39 lacks rupees has been embezzled in Rupaichari block of South Tripura district. Earlier, a 17 crore scam in Bishalgarh block under West Tripura had come to light because of the Opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman. The then BDO, Bimal Chakraborty, who was the main accused along with others involved in that scam are already in jail custody.
