| Tripura gets minor share of Rs.975 crore | AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, Aug 24 (TIWN): As per announcement made by DoNER Minister Jitendra Singh, an amount of Rs.975 crore under the Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) scheme has been allocated to the DoNER ministry for fiscal 2015-16 to fund various projects in North East India. In fiscal 2014-15, a total of 86 projects were retained or cleared for the eight northeastern states. Of these, 23 are in Arunachal Pradesh, 20 in Assam, three in Manipur, six in Meghalaya, 11 in Mizoram, eight in Nagaland, seven in Sikkim and eight in Tripura. The NLCPR was created for deposit of funds from all ministries where the plan expenditure on the northeastern states is less than 10 percent of the total plan allocation of the ministry. Compared to other North Eastern states, allocation for Tripura is bare minimum as Central Govt and DoNER Ministry are suspicious about the utilization certificates of various central govt projects being undertaken at Tripura. One of the most corrupt Chief Minister in Tripura’s history, under Manik Sarkar’s administration, massive looting and scams dominating the national headlines. Sharma.Sharma said this would ensure no animal is counted twice or omitted. The next census is scheduled between February and April 2016.According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources, in north-eastern India, the endangered species range extends from the eastern border of Nepal in north West Bengal through western Assam along the Himalaya foothills as far as the Mishmi hills in Arunachal Pradesh.From here it extends into eastern Arunachal Pradesh, the plains of upper Assam, and the foothills of Nagaland. Further west, it extends to the Garo and Khasi hills of Meghalaya to parts of the lower Brahmaputra plains and Karbi plateau in Assam.In Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, and the Barak valley districts of Assam, isolated herds occur. | Golden Era: NH-44 worsened after State P | AGARTALA, August 22 (TIWN): Landslides, accidents, vehicles movement stranded in road for long hours, ditches and pot holes is all that visible in NH-44 in this age of so called ‘Golden Era’.The national highways in the state meant for smooth flow of traffic have become synonymous with frequent jams and accidents thanks to the tussle between public works department (PWD) and the ministry of road transport and highways (MORTH) over the maintenance of these highways.The condition of National Highway has worsened after it was handed over to the State PWD by NHAI, which raised hopes among the commuters that their troubles would meet an end. But their hopes went to vein as the condition of the NH-44 is getting worse day by day. After taking over the charge of maintenance of NH-44 the PWD is not working up to the mark.After the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway (MORTH) handed over development and maintenance of 104 km of the Assam Agartala National Highway (NH-44) to the PWD from Border Roads Organization (BRO) in July 16th, 2013, the condition of the NH-44 is getting worse day-by-day due to negligence of PWD. And the CPI (M) party fund is increasing day by day by with embezzlement of the funds provided by the Central Government for maintenance of NH-44.It is to be mentioned here that, when the maintenance work of NH-44 was under Border Roads Organization (BRO) the maintenance work was progressing in a rapid speed. But since, after the PWD got the opportunity the maintenance work of NH-44 has merely stopped.
