Auto Mafia Raj: AIDSO demands arrest of the auto driver, police mum

AGARTALA, August 24(TIWN): Regular Protests from all directions have hit the state demanding the arrest of the unruly CITU backed auto driver Liton Sil who has assaulted a Tripura University Students in a broad day light at Battala junction on Friday.

In another drive, after SFI and NSUI, All India Democratic Students Organization (AIDSO) has protested in front of the SDPO Rajendra Datta office demanding the arrest of the accused Liton Sil.

Even after 3 days of the incident police has failed to arrest the CITU backed auto driver Liton Sil from the city and are busy in a long yawning siesta.

Demanding immediate arrest of the accused, to assure safety of the citizens in the state the AIDSO on Monday protested in front if the SDPO office.

Reportedly, NSUI has also protested in front of the Minister Manik Dey’s house but ultimately no result.

The administration has also suspended OC officer i/c Paramita Saha of west women police station in allegation of not accepting to take FIR against the auto driver.

However, placing deputation to SP Bijoy Nag the victim Meenakshi Debnath has filed an FIR against the auto driver but police is not showing any willingness to arrest the accused.

This is not for the first time that auto drivers has assaulted any commuter in a broad day light but like all other cases no one has the time to address this issue.

It is worthy to mention here; though, a section of unruly auto drivers backed by CITU is still engaged in picking the pocket of regular passengers by charging excrescent fare, the concerned authority remained mum over the issue.

Overloading of passengers, charging extra fares, misbehaving with the commuters, is all that happening in and around the state.

Reportedly, resentment brewed up after a girl student of Tripura University was allegedly misbehaved and abused by an auto driver following a heated conversation between the commuter and driver over change and extra fare at Battala on Friday.

The heated conversation began after the auto driver allegedly harassed her taking for long time for giving change of Rs. 5. She boarded in the auto bearing number TR01-A-2538 from Panchabati area to go to Tripura University via Battala.

The localites also alleged that Even, the auto driver attempted to slap the girl. In her defence she also hit him and ran to police station.
