AGARTALA, August 24 (TIWN): With the aim to raise voice against the alarming corruption in the state, opposition congress is scheduled to stage a state level convention in September.

Addressing the press meet at Congress Bhawan on Monday Congress Spokesperson Dr. Ashok Sinha said that Tripura police takes every single step under the direction of the ruling party. Stressing on the issue where a girl was assaulted by auto driver in a broad day light Sinha said that police will not take any initiative to arrest the accused driver Liton Sil until they get a nod from the big heads of the ruling party.

Even after 3 days of the incident police has failed to arrest the CITU backed auto driver Liton Sil from the city and are busy in a long yawning siesta and the driver is yet absconding under the shelter of the ruling party, added Sinha.  He further said that if Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is unable to perform his responsibility he should hand over his ministry to someone else.

Speaking at the press meet, PCC president Birajit Sinha further said that in past 30 months 563 rape cases has happened in Tripura and the numbers are rising in an alarming rate in the state and the ruling party is in long sleeping siesta.

He further said there are also report of 378 missing cases and 51 cases of kidnapping but no proper action is taken by the authority.

Theft cases are rising in an alarming rate and so far in past few months there is report of 450 theft cases in Agartala and police is playing the role of a silent spectator.

However, as a part of the protest against the corruption in the state, congress is also scheduled to stage state level convention within next September.
