NFR official in Tripura to inspect Mega | AGARTALA, August 10 (TIWN): The North East Frontier Railway (NFR) officials is scheduled to visit the Mega block routes from August 10 for inspection prior to kick off the construction work of the Mega block in Tripura proposed from October 1 this year, said official source.The team comprising of Divisional railway Manager and other officials is expected to visit the Badarpur-Agartala route on August 10 and from Agartala to Sabroom on August 11.The source added that the official will review the progress of construction works from Agartala to Sabroom with the local railway officers. The railway authority has clarified that they have taken all the necessary initiatives to start the Mega Block expected to start from October 1 this year.Besides, according to the state official sources the state transport department has a plan to call for a high level meeting prior to the Mega block railway construction work.In a bid to break the deadlock on the proposed Broad Gauge (BG) conversion work under the Mega Block a delegation team of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) meeting with the state Transport Minister Manik Dey earlier at the secretariat demanding for a security measures if required, health hazards, FCI and IOC sites and others prior to kick off the full fledged work.The train services from Agartala would remain suspended from October 1 following the mega block conversion work which is scheduled to end by March 2016. Flyover Construction: Substitute routes | AGARTALA, August 8 (TIWN): To ease the everyday traffic jam at Battala junction following the construction work of the fly-over, the traffic department has listed out three different routes which the civilian can use to avoid the daily traffic congestion.Traffic SP Sriti Ranjan Das said that the three substitute routs are- the TV tower road which connects to Granduce. Another road which the civilian can use is through by-pass to Motor stand via Jogendra Nagar. Besides, another route which is identified by the traffic department is the By-pass route to Motor stand via Khoyarpur, he added. Regretting over the pathetic situation of the traffic congestion, Das said that the routes are open for the movement of the vehicles. If the people are facing traffic congestion which is obvious then they can use the above mentioned substitute routes. He also said that when the construction work of the fly over will expand, widen portion of the road will be occupied with the raw materials and no vehicular movements will be allowed. Tripura assembly debated on death penalt | AGARTALA, Aug 8 (TIWN): Tripura legislative assembly on Friday adopted a private member resolution seeking amendment of the provision of death penalty in 302 of Indian Panel Code (IPC) after a thorough debate on the issue.Despite opposition the house has adopted the resolution unanimously to send it to central government for further discussion in the parliament for amending death penalty to rigorous imprisonment until death.After question hour of the first day of monsoon session, Congress legislator Jiten Sarkar moved the resolution stating that death penalty in the civilized society is unacceptable, which is also violation of Right to Life guaranteed in Article 21 of Indian Constitution.“In past records, it appears even if some courts awarded death sentence to the convicted for any heinous crime and rarest of the rare cases but ultimately it is not implemented.
