8,03,957 mandays created under state Urban Development during 2015-16 FY

AGARTALA, August 25 (TIWN): In the financial year of 2014-15, the state Urban Development department has created 27,03,969 mandays of work whereas as many as 8,03,957 mandays of work has been created in this financial year of 2015-16, said State Urban development Minister Manik Dey.

A review meeting on Urban Development (UD) was held on Monday at civil secretariat headed by UD minister Manik Dey in presence of Principal Secretary, Director and officials of the department, Commissioners, Mayor and Deputy Mayor, Chairmen, Vice-Chairmen, Chief Executive Officers and Executive Officers of Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayats within the state.

Speaking to media persons at Civil Secretariat this evening UD minister Manik Dey said, discussion on several issues relating to the Urban Development was held. The UD department will arrange 75 days of work under TUEP while, minimum 50 days of work is done at present and there will be no crisis of fund for it.

In the remaining 65 and 35 percent leaving the labour component, 35 percent fund shall be used on making assets like construction of small roads, Dey told to reporters after the meeting.

NBCC on behalf of central government is working on near about 763 houses at Dharmanagar and they said that within March’16 100% work will be completed under the Housing scheme being sponsored by the government at the centre.

He said, centrally sponsored scheme named Rajiv Awasan Yojana (RAY) has been implemented to build houses in Kumarghat and Khowai Municipal Councils area and Amarpur and Sabroom Nagar Panchayats area.

“We have received the fund of first installment and yet to receive the second installment. Accumulating the four civic bodies, near about Rs 98 crore has been sanctioned. However, this scheme has been replaced by a new scheme named as Housing for All,” Dey added

UD Department will request the PWD to conduct the maintenance works on the roads which were in a bad condition, after monsoon and to complete it before Durga Puja festival in all the 20 civic-bodies, Minister pointed out.
