UDAIPUR, July 29 (TIWN): An Eco-Van driver narrowly escaped death when a gigantic tree fallen at one-hand distance from the van at Matrangibari area of Udaipur-Amarpur road on Monday afternoon.
Traffic was disrupted for more than two hours when a giant tree fallen over at Matrangibari on Monday afternoon.
Traffic was thrown out of gear at Matrangibari when landslide hit the area and a tree fallen at the road.
This is for the second time; tree has fallen in the same time within a span of one week after July 19.
Following the incessant rain the tree was uprooted blocking arterial roads and causing major traffic blockage in a stretch. The traffic jam continued for more than two hours.
Heavy rainfall across Tripura with the onset of monsoon has created serious transportation problems; exaggerate by landslides and falling of tree along the Amarpur-Udaipur road at Matrangi Bari under Amarpur Sub-Division.
An hour of rain and strong gusts seems enough to paralyses most services at Amarpur matrangibari area.
However, after long 2 hours, with the initiative of the PWD department the road was cleaned and the traffic movement again started running smoothly on the streets.
Though the tree has been removed from the road but the road is dumped with mud and small branches of the tree creating irritation for the passengers and the drivers.
