AGARTALA, July 31 (TIWN): The current financial year brought many jolt for the puffed up “Golden Era” of the state. One after another scams unearthed, close aides of ministers and party leaders came under the scanner of law. In many cases, the police tried their best to safeguard the accused. Almost every centrally sponsored schemes and projects came under scanner.
After the RMSA scam, allegedly serious embezzlement of money is reported from the Deputy Director office of the North district. Crores and crores of money are being misplaced in the name of requirement of the district. It is alleged that irregularities is reported in the buying of printing materials, stationary goods and other goods in the deputy director office of the North district.
The deputy director office in the North district remained in focus in 2015 for embezzlement of government fund received by the authorities for all development work in the district.
Apart, embezzlement is also alleged in the construction of the additional class room and kitchens for the mid-day meal centers in several schools of the North district.
According to the sources, so far an amount of Rs. 3 crore is reported in the construction of additional class rooms and kitchen at Kanchanpur School. This embezzlement is done between the financial year of 2012-13, 2013-14, and 2014-15.
Bungling in midday meal in some of the schools had become routine affairs in North district and embezzlement is also pouring high with the passing days.
The embezzlement surfaces amidst clamor by school children in North district that they were suffering as there are lack of additional class rooms. School children have to either study in open sky or under dilapidated rented accommodations.
