VAT to be replaced by GST, says Joint Commissioner Bimal Reang

KAILASHAHAR, July 30 (TIWN): Value Added Tax (VAT) will be replaced to Goods and Service Tax (GST) by next year which is proposed to be a comprehensive indirect tax levy on manufacture, sale and consumption of goods as well as services at the national level, said Joint Commissioner Bimal Reang of Sale Tax Department on wednesday while addressing a district level awareness programme on Composite Dealer and issue related to Tripura Value Added Tax Act 2004.

Mentioning about the initiatives taken in the current financial year, Reang at the District Level programme held at Kailashahar town hall said that this year the state government has targeted to collect Rs.142crore of tax.

While addressing the awareness camp on Composite Dealer, Reang urged the traders to do immediate registration for composite dealer by August 15.

Explaining the importance of the mentioned registration Reang said that with the registration the traders can enjoy several benefits including easy access in internet banking through which they can easily pay the tax without standing in a queue.

He also mentioned that the traders whose annual income is 3 lakh or above that is till 10 Lakh will have to pay only one percent tax.

He further said that like earlier the traders do not have to make queue or stand in a queue for long hours to pay the tax, wasting their valuable time which they can utilize to develop their trade as they can pay in online. He mentioned the name of the bank- SBI, ICICI and Axis bank.

Addressing the crowd he mentioned that till day 19, 000 of traders of the state has registered their name for composites dealer. Expressing delight he also said that till day 42 per-cents of traders have pan cards.

During the programme, Minister Saha urging the tax payers of the District asked to cooperate with the Government as the funds collected through tax are being utilized by the Government for implementing different development projects in the state.

Suggesting the business men, who do not get time to pay their tax regularly, Minister Saha said that they can easily pay their tax within no time through online service. The business persons had to use their pan card to get avail to the online service and can easily pay their tax without any issue.
