CPI-M cadre led construction corruption | DHARMANAGAR, July 10 (TIWN): In 2002 the foundation stone of Dharmanagar Industrial Training Institute (ITI) College was laid by the then Industry & Commerce Minister Pabitra Kar (Presently Assembly Dy Speaker), Labour Minister Fayjur Rahman, Minister for Panchayat Subosh Das. In 2006 after inauguration, regular class started in that building but within one year of inauguration, various cracks started to develop inside the building due to the poor construction material used by the tenders. Reportedly, within two-three years the building turned into a death-zone due to multiple cracks along with breaking down of some parts of the building, but the Tripura Govt. took no initiative to renovate the college building further. As a result, the condition of the ITI College till 2016 has become worst and anytime it may be collapsed. But surprisingly, Govt.. is running classes inside the building amidst high risks. It’s said that if earthquake comes the building will be collapsed first in the whole district.Although Industrial Training Institute (ITI) is a part of skill development, but the present Industry Minister has no concerns about it. | 10-Jul-2016 |

Along with the arrested smugglers, Police also recovered 8 syringes of drug samples, 102 blank syringes, 340 gram of brown sugar and Rs. 8,000/-. The name of the 4 drug smugglers are : 1) Amanyaual (23), 2) Richard Lalbe Moughta (24), 3) Laldin Jera (24), 4) Mingchung Nanga (27). They were nabbed from BhajaBazar, Silchar Mizoram Border areas. SIT’s silence over Chit fund scam | AGARTALA, July 8 (TIWN): Constant silence over chit fund scam by SIT sparked off controversy in the state. Among a total of 77 cases SIT has submitted charge sheet for only 8 cases. It is to be mentioned here that as in the last affidavit submitted on March 21, the head of SIT did not explain the steps taken to seize the movable property of the NBFCs in past one and half years. Earlier Tripura High Court has expressed its displeasure over functioning of Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to investigate the cheating cases of Non Banking Financial Companies (NBFC) in the state. A division bench of the High Court, comprising Chief Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice U B Saha, had directed the SIT to submit an affidavit again, detailing the estimations of movable assets of the companies and their top level functionaries. Brown sugar of worth Rs. 1.5 crores reco | AGARTALA, July 7 (TIWN): In a successive attempt, BSF 159th btn on Thursday evening recovered 1 kilo and 365 gram of Brown Sugar from Silchar-Agartala train. Reportedly, the Silchar-Agartala train bearing number : 05665 had reached till Panisagar at 5 PM on Thursday. BSF 159th Btn headed by BSF Commandant Kuljit Singh getting informed via a secret source rushed to the spot and recovered the brown sugar packets, which were placed inside the train and almost were to enter Tripura’s mainland for sale. However, no smuggler could be nabbed as according to BSF, the Brown Sugar was placed inside the train in such a way that the smuggler would come and take it secretly. There was no scene of hand-to-hand exchange between smugglers. However, BSF had recovered the illegal items from the mentioned train in appropriate time. Union Home Ministry to expedite investig | AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, July 7 (TIWN Exclusive): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has expedited cases relating to disproportionate assets and corruption registered against Indian Police Service (IPS) officers that have been pending for over 10 years. Tripura’s all top defaulter officials are close coteries of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar. MHA (Ministry of Home Affairs) released latest data shows that 26 Tripura cadre IPS officers didn’t file IPR (immovable property disclosure) in 2015, in other words hiding their property and asset details. As per All-India Service (Conduct) rules, 1968, require officers to disclose these details when they join service and submit an annual property statement—listing properties and shares. Officers who do not submit property returns yearly in time will be “denied vigilance clearance†and will not be considered for promotion and empanelment (put on a short-list) for senior posts in Government of India, said a June 2012 home-ministry circular.
