BG express train likely to chug into Tri | AGARTALA, July 25 (TIWN): After crossing the deadline since March finally the BG Express train will begin its journey from July 31. However the flag off ceremony will be observed by Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu. Although it is decided to toll the train on July31but the train is likely to move through the diverted railway track of Migrendissa at snail pace of less than 5KMph as the mainstream track was damaged due to landslides. It is to be mentioned here that Union railway minister Suresh Prabhu likely to inaugurate the BG Agartala-Delhi Express train service onJuly 31 from Agartala railway station. Talking to TIWN correspondent, NFR construction official Pratap Singh said that it is still not clear when NFR will undertake work to restore the mainline which was damaged due to the landslides following the rain. Corrupt State Govt officials, cadre led black-marketing of stone business is on the peak at Lowairpoa road even though central govt paid for all these road construction materials for filling work. But, in a planned manner stones are dumped on the day time, at evening CPi-M party cadres, miscreants stealing same stones by hired vehicles.TIWN visited the Lowairpoa-Churaibari Highway on Sunday, where such illegal activities were unearthed. The contractors is however not ready to use bricks as bricks cannot be sold again after it mixes with muds. But stones can be easily sold after washing with water. However, such illegal businesses are are going on since decades on Tripura-Assam smuggling route via Churaibari Checkpost. Sangwan. Under Tripura PWD’s lameduck officials supervision, the border fencing work is going in a snail’s space. Tripura IPS officer Joydeep Nayak†| AGARTALA / BHUBANESWAR, July 24 (TIWN): Odisha Vigilance Department sleuths on Saturday arrested Tripura cadre IPS officer Joydeep Nayak, who had allegedly siphoned off Rs 88 lakh government funds from Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad, an official said. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has expedited cases relating to disproportionate assets and corruption registered against Indian Police Service (IPS) officers that have been pending for over 10 years. state Director General of Police (DGP) K. Nagraj, who was handpicked by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in 2014, has a disproportionate assets case pending against him in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Bi-election on 23 August: LF announces c | AGARATALA, July 24 (TIWN): Tripura Left Front government on Sunday in a press meet at CPI-M party office announced the name of the candidate for Bi-election to be held in Simna-Tamakari ADC constituency. LF has announced Kumud Debbarma as the candidate for the Simna-Tamakari ADC constituency. However, addressing the press meet CPI-M state secretary Bijan Dhar said that the election will be held on August 23 under this constituency. However, strict security will be maintained on the day of election and necessary steps will be taken for the smooth conduct of the election, added Dhar. The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) is an independent council administering the tribal areas of the state of Tripura, India. Suspended Tripura IPS officer Joydeep Na | AGARTALA / KOLKATA / NEW DELHI, July 23 (TIWN): Orissa Govt Vigilance arrested suspended Tripura cadre IPS officer, Joydeep Nayak from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh (UP) on Saturday. Nayak is facing charges of misappropriation of Government money to the tune of Rs 88 lakh. He remained elusive since June 23 after he was named as the prime accused in a corruption case in the SC and ST Protection Cell. Nayak was on inter-cadre deputation to Odisha and posted as an IG Police of the Cell.Nayak was produced in the Ghaziabad CJM’s court which his transit remand. A Vigilance team will be escorting him to the State Capital today, sources said. Nayak has been booked under Sections 13(2), 13(1)(c) (d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Sections 467, 468, 409 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code.Nayak, who headed the SC and ST Protection Cell, is charged with showing undue favours Axis Computers, a Cuttack-based private firm, which imparted training to 6,000 SC and ST students of Nuapada. The private firm allegedly furnished fake documents such as bills while utilisation certificates were also fabricated, he added. BSF firing kills a woman at Sonamura, ac | AGARTALA, July 22 (TIWN): In a bizarre incident, a 25 year old woman died on the spot when a BSF jawan of 145Batallion fired at her at Sonamura Tarapukur area on Friday afternoon. The deceased is identified as Maya khatun, resident of Sonamura tarapukur area who is also a mother of two children. Talking to TIWN correspondent, case I/O Amal Chakraborty said that the incident occurred at around 12.30 in the afternoon when a BSF jawan of 142 Battalion fired at women and left her dead on the spot and ran away.However, getting alarm the locals of Sonamura Tarapukur area reached the spot and immediately informed the Sonamura police. However, police reached the spot and found that the women died after she was fired by a BSF Jawan. Police suspects it to be outcome of personal dispute between the jawan and the woman, added Case I/O Amal Chakraborty.
