AGARTALA, July 9 (TIWN): Even after eleven days of t he incident police is yet clueless about nabbing rape accused Panna Ahmed. Talking to TIWN correspondent, West SP Abhijit Saptarshi said that there is no clue so far about Panna, but police is putting its best effort for arresting the accused, but no information is received so far from any source. He further said that although a search advertisement was circulated regarding him but no concrete information received so far from any source. Although people are responding according from the advertisement but no concrete information is received yet, SP added.
It is to be mentioned here that the Tripura government recently suspended a senior official for allegedly raping women at his private residence.

 However the rape victim filed an FIR with the West Agartala police station here that Tripura Civil Service officer Panna Ahmed called her at his private residence here and raped her.Even after the incident came into limelight, the main accused Panna Ahmed is yet roaming free and police is reluctant to take any action. Still today after police is yet negligent to take any action.

Reportedly, the raped-woman is mother of 2 children, and came to meet Panna Ahmed at his home in search of rent at Agartala Ramnagar. Taking advantage of situation, Panna Ahmed tortured her, beaten her and then raped her for hours.

It is to be mentioned here that in the so called golden era of CM Manik Sarkar, land mafias of Sonamura with the help of Ex SDM of Sonamura Panna Ahmed allegedly grabbed the properties of the local people by misusing SDM's administrative power. According to sources, land mafias of Sonamura with the help of SDM Panna Ahmed were on a race to evict the poor Hindu families of Sonamura Sub-Division. Residents of Sonamura earlier said that several times they have went to the District Magistrate (DM) regarding the issue but no action has been taken against Panna Ahmed till date due to Panna's close relation with the CPI (M) led State Government.

 Reportedly former SDM of Sonamura Subasish Das was transferred for doing his job honestly by destroying over Rs. 100 crores worth of ganja fields and in his place when Panna was made SDM Sonamura , Ganja planters started their business with new rhythm.  

It was reported that, not only land grabbing; Panna Ahmed's family is also engaged in smuggling of contraband items. Moreover, Panna Ahmed's brother-in-law namely Roman Mia is also known as Phensedyl king of Sonamura.
