DHARMANAGAR, July 10 (TIWN): In 2002 the foundation stone of Dharmanagar Industrial Training Institute (ITI) College was laid by the then Industry & Commerce Minister Pabitra Kar (Presently Assembly Dy Speaker), Labour Minister Fayjur Rahman, Minister for Panchayat Subosh Das. In 2006 after inauguration, regular class started in that building but within one year of inauguration, various cracks started to develop inside the building due to the poor construction material used by the tenders. Reportedly, within two-three years the building turned into a death-zone due to multiple cracks along with breaking down of some parts of the building, but the Tripura Govt. took no initiative to renovate the college building further. As a result, the condition of the ITI College till 2016 has become worst and anytime it may be collapsed. But surprisingly, Govt.. is running classes inside the building amidst high risks. It’s said that if earthquake comes the building will be collapsed first in the whole district.Although Industrial Training Institute (ITI) is a part of skill development, but the present Industry Minister has no concerns about it.

Minister Tapan Chakraborty is not only the Minister for Industry and Commerce, but also holding the position for Minister of Education in Cabinet.

But under his observation the schools, colleges are suffering majorly due to poor construction by corruption happy CPI-M aligned contractors.

This ITI College-issue it shows that Govt. is reluctant not only about the Education quality, but it not at all bothered about the safety of the students.
