AGARTALA, July 10 (TIWN): Although Assam Govt. has taken charge to renovate the National Highway till Churaibari, but monsoon delays the renovation work, a Tripura Govt. official said on Saturday.
Atleast 300 vehicles remained un-passed on Saturday morning as the condition of the road had gone in its worst shape, said SDM P Acharjee to TIWN.
Talking to him he mentioned everyday vehicles are entering into Tripura, but maximum of the vehicles are coming via the alternative National Highway (NHC Road), but the problem in it is that the drivers from other states are not familiar with the road and they fully avoid the NHC road.
For Tripura drivers NHC road is familiar and thus whereas in total 154 vehicles entered in Tripura on last night, but among them only 46 could pass through the main road, whereas more than 100 vehicle entered by NHC road’.
In Saturday morning police officials from Tripura were sent to check the condition, but as per their report vehicles are fully fall into National Highway Trap and unable to pass. However, Tripura’s few vehicles are also there, he added.
The vehicles are so close with each other that no vehicle can come out of the line on emergency basis, he said.
Thus the condition of Lowairpoa-Churaibari till now remained adverse for the drivers.
He also said, ‘Tripura Govt. is putting continuous pressure on the Assam Govt. to renovate the Lowairpoa area as fast as possible, and many times crossing the state-border, Tripura Govt. officials from Dharmanagar had visited Assam.
The Assam Govt. is however started to renovate the National Highway, but the monsoon and continuous rain is pending the renovation work there, resulting 300 vehicles are unable to move fully loaded by goods, said Acharjee.
