Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh instru | NEW DELHI / AGARTALA, July 6 (TIWN): In a move that could affect several high-profile officers, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has expedited cases relating to disproportionate assets and corruption registered against Indian Police Service (IPS) officers that have been pending for over 10 years, a senior government official said. The decision is likely to have the biggest impact in Tripura, as the state Director General of Police (DGP) K. Nagraj, who was handpicked by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in 2014, has a disproportionate assets case pending against him in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). In 2005, the probe agency had registered a case against K Nagraj, the 1983 batch IPS officer of the Manipur-Tripura cadre for allegedly amassing property to the tune of Rs. 1.07 crore, which was disproportionate to his known sources of income. Tripura’s multiple corruption tainted DGP K.Nagraj is the only serving DGP in nation who was chargesheeted by CBI in 2005, 2007 for amassing properties disproportionate to his known sources of income. Red corner notice to track absconding, r | AGARTALA, July 5 (TIWN / IANS): A red corner notice would be served soon to track a senior Tripura government official who has remained absconding for nine days after allegedly raping a woman, official said here on Tuesday. The Tripura government, immediately after coming to know of the incident, suspended the official Panna Ahmed, 44, who was Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Sonamura sub-division of Sepahijala district. "The state government has requested the Union Home Ministry to take necessary steps to issue a red corner notice to track the official," West Tripura district police chief Abhijit Saptarshi told IANS. "MHA would ask CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) to issue the red corner notice on behalf of the Interpol," he said adding that they have already issued a warrant of arrest and published a general notice in the local newspapers with Ahmed's photograph. Tripura cut off from all means of transp | AGARTALA, July 4 (TIWN): As there is no other means of transportation of goods to the state with the collapse of NH44 and halt of freight train service, the Tripura government have now opted for transportation of goods through the Guwahati-Dawki-Dharmanagar route and Bangladesh's Ashuganj river port which will further develop the transit facility between India and Bangladesh.With Tripura remaining cut-off from the rest of the country for more than a month, efforts are on to transport foodgrains and fuel to the northeastern state through Bangladesh, a minister said here on Sunday."The Food Corporation of India and Indian Oil Corporation have taken steps to transport foodgrains, petrol and diesel through Bangladesh. For this, the Guwahati-Dawki-Dharmanagar route and Bangladesh's Ashuganj river port would be used.For over a month supply of essential commodities has been hit after the National Highway (NH-44) was badly damaged due to rain and water-logging. | 03-Jul-2016 |
