Whereas nobody can pass through Assam Tripura National Highway due to it’s pathetic condition, neither by Train as red alert was all over Tripura for rapist TCS officer. Panna Ahmed raped a woman at his own Agartala residence. Police claimed that they went to arrest Ahmed at his home but he was absconding. Now question arises, just after the rape incident how Panna Ahmed vanished for Assam’s Karimganj? Rapist TCS officer Panna Ahmed arrested | AGARATALA, July 12 (TIWN): After a struggle of almost 3 weeks, Karimganj police on Tuesday arrested the rape accused Panna Ahmed who was on run after raping a mother of 2 child in Tripura on last June 26. Talking to TIWN correspondent, West SP Abhijit Saptarshi and Karimganj OC Shankar Mandal confirmed to TIWN that the rape accused Panna Ahmed was arrested on Tuesday from Shivbari road under Karimganj District with the joint collaboration of Tripura police personnel Manoj Chanda and Karimganj Police. Karimganj OC Shankar Mandal further said that Panna was arrested with the inputs on secret information at 1pm from shivbari road and now he is under the jurisdiction of Karimganj police. He further said that he will be handed over to Tripura police after the moral formalities and he will be send to Tripura on Tuesday itself. However, it is to be mentioned here that allegations have been raised against the former SDM of Sonamura for raping a mother of two sons in his own residence near western club and yet CPI-M is silent. Apart from raping the women he has also threatened the victim after he was posted as the joint Director of Youth and sports affairs. Massive fuel theft on NH-44 : Tripura-As | DHARMANAGAR, July 11 (TIWN): Whereas the whole state is suffering from acute fuel crisis, on the other hand Black-marketing spiked up at North Tripura bordering Assam-Tripura Churaibari NH-44 corridor. Demand for petrol is so high that truck drivers stealing petrol from their own tankers and selling at black market, in turn black-marketers making lakhs of cash everyday. TIWN correspondent visited Churaibari and investigated this theft on Monday. TIWN correspondent taken pictures on Monday where the local black marketers cum shop-keepers are fetching petrol from the trucks via thick pipes. TIWN spoke with few truck drivers and black-marketers and found that fuel theft at Churaibari is a daily ‘business’ as usual in front of bribe-happy authorities. Badal Choudhury on the occasion of World Population Day-2016, when the health dept. officials mentioned about contraceptives to prevent increasing population, Minister said, ‘properly take care about contraceptive distribution as this is a prime reason behind increasing (sex) crimes’. Badal Choudhury’s comment however proves his ordinary mentality of relating contraceptives with increasing sex crimes, as he talked just like an ordinary villager that condoms are causing mass-social problems. Uncertainty looms large over Indo-Bangla | AGARTALA, July 11(TIWN): Although the BG conversion work in Tripura is almost completed and the Express train service can start at any moment but no major progress is witnessed in the extension project of the Indo-Bangla rail link so far. It is to be mentioned here that centre has sanctioned money for acquiring land and for laying of five km long tracks on the Indian side. However, there is no major progress in the Indo-Bangla rail link but will catch the speed in the coming days. However it is to be mentioned here that earlier the state government could not undertake land acquisition process as the centre had not placed funds but even after sanctioning funds of Rs.580 crore no progress is made in the indo-bangla rail link so far.The Indian government has sanctioned around Rs 1,000 crore for a 15-km India-Bangladesh railway project, the source informed. Central govt has recently communicated to Tripura that it had sanctioned Rs 580 crore to lay the rail tracks and acquire required land in Tripura.Indian and Bangladesh governments have decided to start a new rail link to ease surface transport. Monarchak not making any contribution to | AGARTALA, July 10 (TIWN): The 101 megawatt gas-based thermal power project at Monarchak in Sipahijala, commissioned by NEEPCO, is ready for generation at any moment, but cannot be made operational due to non-supply of gas by ONGC, an official said today. Talking to TIWN correspondent, NEEPCO GM SR Biswas said that 101 MW gas-based Monarchak power plants in Sipahijala district at Sonamura sub-division has stopped power production after gas supply was stopped from ONGC. He further said that there is no problem with the turbines but it can only run if it gets sufficient amount of gas from ONGC. He also said that recently, NEEPCO and ONGC high official held meeting where it is decided that ONGC will be able to supply gas from December and before that it cannot provide the sufficient amount of gas to run the turbines. Apart from this he also said that with lack of gas supply from ONGC, the power plant is running into heavy losses. Currently, the plant is not making any contribution to the power requirement if the state and the state is being supported by Palatana power generation and the other plants of the state.However, it will take time to resume the power generation and nothing can be said now added NEEPCO official. | 10-Jul-2016 |
