AGARTALA, July 9 (TIWN): Although it was said that more than 100 vehicles entered into Tripura’s mainland via National Highway, but talking to the SDM of Dharmanagar P Acharjee he said that only 46 vehicles could enter via National Highway on last night, and on Saturday also the status is almost same, with around 300 vehicles' standing.
‘In total 154 vehicles entered in Tripura, but among them only 46 could pass through the main road, whereas more than 100 vehicle entered by NHC road on Friday’, he said.
He further said, the outsider vehicle drivers from other states, are not familiar with the NHC road properly, so they prefer to come via Assam-Agartala main road.
‘But in morning our officials, including police visited Churaibari-Lowairpoa road, where 200-300 vehicles they found remained immovable’. Maximum of them are goods-loaded trucks’, he added.
‘However, the tankers are entering around 25 nos. per day, but for Tripura vehicular it’s easy to enter as they chose to come via the alternative road’, said Acharjee.
He further claimed that Tripura Govt. officials putting continuous pressure on the Assam Govt. to renovate the Lowairpoa area as fast as possible, and many times crossing the state-border, Tripura Govt. officials from Dharmanagar visited Assam. The continuous pressure by Tripura Govt. is however seems fruitful as Assam Govt. is atlast renovating the National Highway, he added.
‘Due to monsoon the work is hampering presently’, said SDM.
He further criticizes that many emergency vehicular are also unable to enter in state, as the vehicles are lined up in such a way that there is no chance of passing of any vehicle from behind. The vehicle must go serial wise, as there is no space between the vehicles.
Many print media works are halting due to the road-way condition, said SDM.
