AGARTALA, July 7 (TIWN): In a successive attempt, BSF 159th btn on Thursday evening recovered 1 kilo and 365 gram of Brown Sugar from Silchar-Agartala train. Reportedly, the Silchar-Agartala train bearing number : 05665 had reached till Panisagar at 5 PM on Thursday. BSF 159th Btn headed by BSF Commandant Kuljit Singh getting informed via a secret source rushed to the spot and recovered the brown sugar packets, which were placed inside the train and almost were to enter Tripura’s mainland for sale. However, no smuggler could be nabbed as according to BSF, the Brown Sugar was placed inside the train in such a way that the smuggler would come and take it secretly. There was no scene of hand-to-hand exchange between smugglers. However, BSF had recovered the illegal items from the mentioned train in appropriate time. The brown sugar then handed over to GRPS, OC Indrajit Sinha.
In a similar way, just before 1 month on June 12, another 400 gram brown sugar worth Rs. 30 lakhs seized by BSF, along with 1 was arrested .
On June 12, the 400 gram brown sugar was seized from a bus by 159th battalion BSF at Dharmanagar ISBT area from a bus.
The bus was travelling from Dharmanagar to Agartala. Reportedly, Brown sugar worth Rs. 30 lakhs was being shipped into the Capital City Agartala.BSF intelligence after getting informed, stopped the vehicle and nabbed the drug trafficker.
Arrested drug trafficker has been identified as Giyas Uddin and presently kept in BSF camp at Dharmanagar Bishnupur Border area. BSF Jawans have also seized the vehicle with the number TR01B1458.
It’s worthy to mention here that rampant drug trafficking across Tripura damaging young generation but Tripura Police, yet to control the illegal activities across the state.
In most cases it has been seen that unemployed young people are engaged in drug trafficking activities, which is not only spoiling the young generation, but also damaging the state’s peace.
