Tripura Pradesh women congress felicitates newly elected four women members in the AMC election

AGARTALA, Jan 9 (TIWN): The Tripura Pradesh Women Congress Committee (TPWCC) wing on Friday felicitated the newly elected women members from AMC election.

All the four newly elected women member from AMC were felicitated by the Tripura Pradesh women congress committee (TPWCC) on Saturday at congress Bhawan.

Among the elected women members from AMC includes Ratna Datta and others.

It is to be mentioned here that Left Front led by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) swept the civic polls across the state, winning 291 among 310 seats all across the State.

Reportedly, among 49 votes altogether 45 seats were captured by Left Front and four are by Congress whereas BJP and others were left with zero votes.

Congress has somehow managed to capture 13 seats all across the State, Bharatiya Janta Party with 4 and others with 2 seats.

Among all the 886 candidates, including 429 women, from all parties contested the civic polls.

The Left Front, comprising four Left parties and dominated by CPI-M, has won the Jirania Nagar Panchayat in western Tripura as the Left parties got all seats uncontested before the elections.

Where the Left Front has captured 45 seats in Municipal election, Congress could manage to capture 4 seats in the Agartala Municipal Corporation Election.

Where Congress could capture only one seat at Ambassa Municipal Council, Left Front has wins by 12 seats.

Achieving massive victory, Left Front over Khowai (15), Teliamura (15), Ranirbazaar (13), Mohanpur (13), Melaghar (13), SatirBazaar (13) and Belonia Municipal Council (15) rejoice over winning all the seats in the area.  

Elections were held to the 144-years-old Agartala Municipal Corporation, 13 municipal councils and five nagar panchayats in Tripura on Wednesday. Around 89 percent of the 537,968 electorate voted in the polls in Left-ruled Tripura.
