AGARTALA, Jan 8 (TIWN): Though the higher authority has increased the time limit of the installation of the set top box for next two month, recently the cost of the set top box has put up several questions among the common mass.

Allegation has been raised against the cable service operator that they have been charging more than the double amount of the exact amount of the Set top box.

Reportedly, the consumers who had applied for the set top box and already paid for it, has been charged Rs. 1700 to Rs. 2000.

Now, when the charge of the set top box has been taken earlier has been declared very high and not the actual amount several question has been raised among the people.

However, uncertainty looms large among the consumers that whether the invested extra money will be returned back or will be adjusted.

Besides, a section of consumers alleged that they are being cheated by the cable operators.

It is to be mentioned here that the cable was already been disconnected after the December 31 night. But with the order of the extension of time from the higher authority most of the families who has not installed the set top box yet got relief.

The district administration has directed all multi-system operators (MSOs) and representatives of the district cable television operators’ association to ensure that the seeding of set top boxes is completed in the limits of the municipalities before the deadline.

However, as per the direction of the higher authority the city would need to upgrade from 'Analog System' to 'Digital Addressable System' for which it is necessary to install a set-top box.

The benefit of installing the set-top box is that it enhances the sound and picture quality of the programmes. One can also watch more channels after installing this equipment.

Besides, the consumer can pay only for the channels which they want to watch. On the other hand, the consumers will be facilitated with more than 600 channels which ever they want to activate in their set top box they can do it.
