BHUBANESWAR / AGARTALA, Jan 8 (TIWN): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which submitted preliminary chargesheet against Rose Valley Group , has estimated the total volume of fraud by the company at Rs 17,000 crore. Investigating into the multi-hundred crore Ponzi scam, the premier probe agency has framed charges against the company’s Chairman Gautam Kundu, Managing Director Shibamoy Dutta and two Directors Ashok Kumar Saha and Ram Lal Goswami. The CBI radar now awaits to open up the faces of some political players behind the mask. However the listed political leaders in Tripura are likely to be interrogated very soon. The four have been charged under Sections 420/409 and 120 (B) of the Indian Penal Code along with Section 4 and 6 of the Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act.The investigating agency has indicated in its chargesheet that the company defrauded about Rs 450 crore in Odisha alone. The Rose Valley Group had invested heavily in real estate and infrastructure after mobilising hundreds of crores from thousands of depositors through collective investment schemes from West Bengal, Odisha, Tripura, Assam, Jharkhand and Maharashtra. When its fraud came to fore, Rose Valley’s cheating network was found to be even bigger than the Saradha Group.
In 2008, Minister cum Rose Valley agent Bijita Nath inaugurated the new office building of Rose valley at Dharmanagar and charmed people to deposit money in Rose Valley.
Bengal Minister Madan Mitra brought into jail custody for involvement in Saradha scam, the same way Tripura Minister Bijita Nath also under the radar of the CBI for her involvement with Rose Valley.
In fact, the CBI, Bhubaneswar had arrested Dutta and Saha in September last year and taken the duo on remand to elicit vital details about the Group’s network in the State where the Kolkata-based company had duped investors by establishing 65 branches. Dutta was in charge of operations in West Bengal while Saha, a resident of Agartala, was looking after the Tripura region.
While the promoters of the Rose Valley here in Tripura might be in a long sprint to save their clean image.
Besides, marking another bad day for Manik Sarkar, it is mentionable here that state science and technology minister Bijita Nath earlier was an agent of the Rose Valley group of company. Therefore it would be wise enough to mention here that the CBI raid here in Tripura might have lead to the actual "kingpin” – Chief Minister Manik Sarkar needs to be in a long sprint to save his clean image.
The Rose Valley Group raised as much as Rs 10,281 crore from investors while Saradha firms had mobilised Rs 2,459 crore. Very recently the opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman who has been demanding many times CBI probe into the chit fund related cases, looks set to make public inputs collected from grievance cell. This may prove fatal for the non banking financial companies who were active at the state once again.
An interesting video where Chief Minister Manik Sarkar promoting Rose Valley business, sitting with Scamster Rose Valley owner Gautam Kundu and welcoming Rose Valley for further business establishments in Tripura.
