AGARTALA Sep 16 (TIWN):Tripura Bangladesh has begun to finalize the power transmission deal in which Bangladesh would get 500 MW from Tripura Suryamaninagar grid to south comilla grid. The committee for power transmission to Bangladesh has submitted its report to ministry of power after a meeting in Delhi.

The main supply of power would be from OTPC palatana. But present production in OTPC power project is below expectation.

Till now it has not been possible to get the expected production of 726mw from the project. Loadsheedings is a daily event in Tripura for this reason.

The OTPC palatana power plant has been plagued by problems from beginning. The problems worsened as they have to change or clean the supply gas line time to time because it got clogged due to impurities, there is also problem in the turbine machine etc. Till now it did not even produce 500mw regularly. Moreover shut down of units is a very common issue in OTPC palatana

OTPC  did not even meet the  power demand of the state. Tripura is continuing to buy power from other states. How can we transmit power to Bangladesh?.
