Residents blockade the road at Indranagar in protest over deplorable condition

AGARTALA, September 14 (TIWN): Frustrated residence of Indranagar on Monday blocked a section of the Indranagar road connecting Jail road to GB Hospital, protesting against its deplorable condition and demands for immediate action.

The protest was lead by the AMC counsellor of Ward no. 5 Panna Deb. The agitated locals stood their ground on the road from morning 9:45 am onwards.

The protest has affected the school going children, College students. Mostly it has affected the people who were on the way to the office and the patients who were hurried to visit the hospital as it is the only way to visit GB hospital.

The protesters said they would not move until any official visits to provide answers about give assurance on when the road would be fixed.

Besides, they also claimed that the rain made the road even more difficult to traverse, some of the potholes were even deeper than they were and with the pot holes present everywhere over the road made the smooth convenience next to impossible.

The road has become jumpy-bumpy creating problems for the drivers and the passengers as well.

The agitated drivers stressed that due to the road their vehicles are getting damaged and they had to spend a lot of money to fix them.

According to the residents, the road was supposed to be fixed a long time ago, they have been suffering for prolonged days but no initiatives has been taken yet to solve the suffering of the resident.

They further said that the area does not even have drainage system which is another head ache for them. During the rainy season they have to face more problems. When they placed complaint to the AMC they has forwarded the complaint to the NBC and the NBC has given the contract to a contractor but till day no step is being taken yet.

 “The road is in deplorable condition for prolonged 3-year and is in the same state,” said residents. All we are asking to renovate the road so for smooth convenience. The time has reached now for patching to stop, added.

However, the residences are no withdrawing the road blockade till they get any kind of assurance from the authority or any officials.
