Dipa Karmakar got a rousing popular rece | AGARTALA, Aug 22 (TIWN): The State's CPI-M government is yet to announce anything for the world-beater gymnast who missed an Olympic bronze by a whisker. But the Telengana government has announced a cash award of Rs 50 lakhs for Dipa Karmakar . "Dipa's performance is very inspiring and there is a need for backing girls who perform," said Telengana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. His government has annmounced Rs 10 crore cash award for gold medallists, Rs 5 crore for silver medallists and Rs 1 crore for bronze medallists. "But Dipa is given this cash award as a special case. She barely missed bronze," said Amarnath Reddy , adviser to Telengana government. But Manik Sarkar's Tripura Govt yet to announce any cash award for Olympian athlete Dipa Karmakar. But though she may have missed out on big cash bonanza like shuttler Sindhu ( who seems to be netting more than Rs 13 crores) , the dimunitive gymnast may bag a few big deals for endorsements. Dipa's tweet handle has already 30,000 followers. Sports marketing firm Baseline Ventures , which is close to signing a multi-year endorsement deal with shuttlers Sindhu and Srikanth, are considering a long term deal with Dipa. Indo-Bangla petrol transport agreement v | AGARTALA, Aug 22 (TIWN): Based on the agreement signed between Bangladesh and India allowing India to carry petroleum goods from Meghalaya to Tripura through Bangladesh territory on humanitarian grounds. At the request of India, the Bangladesh government allowed the country to send petroleum products including high-speed diesel, superior kerosene oil and Liquefied Petroleum Gas to flood-hit Tripura. Under the agreement, a maximum of 80 trucks or tankers will be allowed, in a day, to ply through the routes in convoys under security protection provided by Bangladesh authorities. The maximum excel limit of a vehicle will be 10 metric-tonne. India will pay Bangladesh at a rate of Tk 1.02 per metric-tonne per kilometer as fee for using roads in compliance with existing Bangladesh-India Protocol on Inland Water Transit and Trade (PIWTT). Bangladesh authorities will allow the convoys to pass through after getting valid documents, including copies of passports and driving license of drivers and staff, route permits and fitness certificate of the vehicles and comprehensive insurance certificate for the journey from Indian authorities, much ahead of the transfer of the goods. | 22-Aug-2016 |

TSECL yet to clear pending bills of arou | AGARTALA, Aug 22 (TIWN): TSECL is debt under huge amount of pending bills to the power plants based in Tripura yet power minister manages a narrow escape by saying that ‘so far he have not thought anything regarding this issue’.Talking to TIWN correspondent, Power Minister Manik Dey said that so far no initiative is taken regarding into this issue we will look into this matter. He further sounded hesitant to say anything regarding giving any clear information like when will they clear the pending bills. OTPC had earlier set the deadline by January 7 2016 to TSECL to clear all the pending bills of about 100 crore to the plants. After the OTPC authority has issued a letter to TSECL to clear the pending bill of about 100 crores to OTPC, although TSECL has shown keen interest to clear the bill but so TSECL is unable to clear the bills to the plant. TSECL is supposed to provide money to some power generation companies for supplying power to its customers. Tripura awaits for Dipa’s return | AGARTALA, Aug 21 (TIWN): Olympian gymnast Dipa Karmakar have expressed splendid pleasure with the grand welcome at Delhi, now the wait begins for the people of Tripura who are eagerly waiting for Dipa’s arrival in the state on August 22. After Dipa became 4th in final and just narrowly missed the medal, she was made the icon of West Bengal Kanyashree scheme immediately. However, Sports Dept. of Tripura led by Sports Minister Sahid Chowdhury called a preparatory meeting at Birchandra Library to discuss how to welcome Dipa. As per the plan she will be directly taken to swami Vivekananda stadium where Tripura Sports Minister will remain present, along with others. State-run Tripura power plant faces loss | AGARTALA, Aug 21 (TIWN/IANS): A state-owned company's third largest gas-based power plant near here, mandated to provide 100 MW of electricity to Bangladesh, has been incurring losses due to delays in supply of gas by another public sector undertaking. The Rs 1,007.57 crore power project has been commissioned by the state-run North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (Neepco) at Monarchak, 70 km south of Tripura's capital Agartala, with gas supplies linked to the Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC). According to Neepco General Manager Samar Ranjan Biswas, in view of the delayed commercial generation of power from the environment-friendly project, the corporation has been incurring a loss of Rs 13.20 crore every month. "ONGC's repeated dilly-dallying on supplying gas has delayed the commercial generation of electricity from this power project and resulted in huge losses," Biswas told IANS. Another senior Neepco official said that with Bangladesh keen to source more power from India, and the Tripura and central governments being willing, the company is prepared to supply 100 MW of power to the neighbouring country. "Conceived in 2000 with an installed capacity of 500 MW, the power plant's capacity was reduced to 280 MW in 2003-04 after ONGC reduced its gas allocation by half. By May 2004, Neepco had established all infrastructure for the 280 MW plant," Biswas said. | 21-Aug-2016 |

NEEPCO is facing loss incurred at Rs. 4. | AGARTALA, Aug 20 (TIWN): ONGC’s failure is supplying gas to 101 MW based power plant has turned loss about of 4.4 lakhs every day, said NEEPCO GM.Talking to TIWN correspondent, NEEPCO GM SR Biswas said that NEEPCO is facing loss incurred at Rs. 4.4 lakh each day due to delay in supplying of natural gas by ONGC. Our project is lying idle due to delay in supply of natural gas by the ONGC as per the agreement. The delay has incurred a loss of Rs. 4.4 lakh, he said. On the other hand he also said that Tripura’s Monarchak power plant might supply 101 Megawatt power to Bangladesh at the end of December. The Monarchak power plant would start producing power as soon as the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited start supplying natural gas, according to the agreement. It is to be mentioned here that Bangladesh has inked a short-term route permit agreement to allow Indian transport petroleum products from the northeastern state of Assam to Tripura through Bangladesh in the wake of floods that have drastically damaged Indian roads.
