Back to back terror attacks at NE ahead | AGARTALA, Aug 7 (TIWN): Although high alert is imposed in the state, but there is serious militant threat in the state ahead of Independence Day celebrations. With report of militant attack at Assam the security of the state is put on high alert. Fourteen civilians have been killed after terrorists opened fire at a weekly market at Balajan Tinali in the heart of ASSAM's Kokrajhar. Security forces in the area have killed one of the terrorists. Fifteen civilians have been reported injured in the incident. An AK-47 has been recovered from the terrorist who was killed after an intense gun battle that lasted about 20 minutes. Additional forces have been rushed to the spot, even as other terrorists are being pursued by security forces. In Assam's worst terror attack since 2014, gunmen dressed in military fatigues opened fire at a crowded market in Kokrajhar on Friday, killing 13 civilians. One of the attackers was also killed. The terrorists hurled a grenade and then opened indiscriminate fire after reaching the weekly market in Kokrajhar town, some 220 km from here, in an autorickshaw, police and military officials said.Authorities blamed the "anti-talk faction" of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) led by I.K. Songbijit, who carries a reward of Rs 10 lakh on his head, for the massacre. Nearly 20 civilians were also injured, many seriously, in the ghastly attack. Crisis to almost meet an end soon: Fuel, | AGARTALA, Aug 6 (TIWN): With the improvement in the condition of the National Highway 8(44), the food and other essential goods crisis has almost met an end. Starting from fuel, diesel, LPG bullets, perishable and non-perishable goods are continuously entering the state. Talking to TIWN correspondent, Food and Civil Supplies Director Soumitra Banerjee said that supply of essential commodities including diesel, petrol LPG and food grains has started returning to normal to the landlocked state of Tripura after more than 2 months. He further said that this has become possible only due to immediate repair of 20-km portion of an alternative highway on its inter-state border with Assam. Everyday tankers carrying diesel and petrol are moving in to Tripura through the repaired Kathaltoli-Chankhira stretch. Situation was so bad in the past few weeks that as most petrol pumps went dry the authorities had to resort to rationing of fuel.Tripura had in the past few days witnessed strong protests by petroleum consumers as well as opposition political parties over the fuel shortage. After Dhaka, Terrorist-Attack hits NE ! | AGARTALA, Aug 5 (TIWN): The countries couldn't come out of the shock of Dhaka terror attack, that terrorists killed more 13 people at NE state Assam. Assam Chief Minister on Friday vowed to take "strict action" against the terrorists who gunned down 13 people at a busy market in Kokrajhar town. "I extend my condolences to the families of the victims. We will take strict against the perpetrators," Sonowal said. At least 13 civilians were killed on Friday when militants in military fatigues opened random fire at a busy market in Assam's Kokrajhar town. Police said one of the raiders was also killed. Witnesses said the attackers first hurled a grenade and then began to fire into the crowd, killing a dozen people and injuring 18 others in the town, about 220 km from Guwahati. Assam Police chief Mukesh Sahay said that security forces shot dead one of the attackers. He said four terrorists were on the run and an AK-56 rifle and grenades had been recovered from the spot.
