AGARTALA, Aug 21 (TIWN): Tripura HC Justice S. Talapatra in presence of CM Manik Sarkar on Sunday inaugurated 3days long Teacher’s Training program at Press Club.
The program was organised by Institute of Human Rights Education-Tripura Branch which was also sponsored and guided by People’s watch-Tamil Nadu, recognised by United nation.
The three long training program will end on August 23.
Addressing the inaugural program, Justice S. Talapatra said that Education in human rights is itself a fundamental human right and also a responsibility: the Preamble to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) exhorts "every individual and every organ of society" to "strive by teaching and education to promote respect for these rights and freedoms."
Human rights education constitutes an essential contribution to the long-term prevention of human rights abuses and represents an important investment in the endeavour to achieve a just society in which all human rights of all persons are valued and respected, he added.
He further laid stress on UN World program on Human Rights.
On the other hand Professor K K Roy, Human Rights’ Defender presented lecture on “Human Rights Violations” and Discrimination referring case study were also discussed on the inaugural program.
