AGARTALA, Aug 19 (TIWN): After becoming WB CM Mamata Banarjee’s icon, the Madhya Pradesh Govt. offered Dipa for a world class training in the next 4 years before Olympic-2020. ‘MP Govt. will ensure Dipa’s victory in next Olympic’, says Madhya Pradesh CM. However, a nationwide increasing “Dipa-demand” has finally broken the sleep of Tripura ruling party. Mamata Banarjee during her visit in Tripura on August 9th congratulated Dipa after she qualified for final on August 14. However, after Dipa became 4rth in final and just narrowly missed the medal, she was made the icon of West Bengal immediately. However, Sports Dept. of Tripura led by Sports Minister Sahid Chowdhury called a preparatory meeting on Friday at Birchandra Library to discuss how to welcome Dipa. Surprisingly, CPI-M has left no space for other parties, and not even for common people to see Dipa after she arrives from Delhi, unless she reaches at Astabol Field (Presently known as Swami Vivekananda Field, Agartala) where Tripura Present Sports Minister will be present, along with his other party comrades. However, it’s worthy to mention here Dipa bring and brought up in a poor sports environment has created national history in the world of gymnast.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has already announced that his state will ensure proper training for the next Olympics for woman gymnast Dipa Karmakar, a Tripura girl, who missed an Olympic medal this time, in case she so desired.

Dipa Karmakar already shined Tripura’s name in the world of athletics, by her maiden contribution in women gymnastic who performed on 14th August late-night, although she missed few points to win a medal.

Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar missed out on a historic medal in the women's vault competition by a whisker as she finished a creditable fourth in the final of the Olympic Games here. Dipa averaged 15.066 points to finish fourth at the Rio Olympic Arena. Simone Biles of the US won the gold with an average of 15.966, while Maria Paseka (15.253) of Russia and Switzerland's Giulia Steingrubber (15.216) took home the silver and bronze medals respectively.Despite being disappointed at missing out on the medal, Dipa asserted that she is determined to train harder and do better at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo."I am happy to have come fourth. Next time when I come to Olympics, I will do better. Those who won in Vault ahead of me were better athletes," she said. "I was very happy with my performance", said Dipa. "I hope my coming years would be very good. I will try that in the future our performance at the next Olympics would be good," Dipa added.

"She was amazing. I am happy with her performance. I think it was the deep landing on Produnova that must have cost her some points," her coach said.

I came fourth but my performance was good. I would like to thank my coach for this. We did all this without foreign training. No one can say Indian coaches cannot achieve," she said. "In gymnastics, reaching the finals is in itself great achievement, and I would like to thank all Indians who prayed for me and trusted me to reach this position," she added. "My message to the girls is that women are not behind in anything, and if they work hard, they will achieve the results, even if not immediately."

After completing programme at Delhi, she will arrive in Tripura. However, either in 21st or in 22nd August she will reach in Tripura.
