AGARTALA, Aug 20 (TIWN): India comes under one of the top-5 railway networks now.

US comes first in railway network length with 2,93,56 KM, whereas China has 191,270 KM access. 3rd comes Russia with 87,157 KM, and Canada is 4rth with 77,932 KM and thus India comes 5th with its 67,565 KM.

However, being a vast country India govt. facing more necessity to focus more on the railway budget.

The Central Govt.’s decision about the 7th Pay Commission had compelled the govt. to reject Prabhu’s request for additional budgetary support of Rs. 32,000 crores as for the 7th pay commission recommendations---nearly Rs. 28,000 crores this year requires for the retirees and service employees.

However, Indian Railway Dept. is eager to perform better and expand more networks.

But passengers’ amenities had been deteriorated in India, which made the passengers disinclined to pay extra for railway.

Presently, the Railway Dept. is trying to bring rapid improvement especially in passenger amenities so that charges can slowly be increased.
