AGARTALA, July 10 (TIWN): On his maiden visit to Tripura’s first flyover construction site on Sunday, PWD Minister Badal Chowdhury pampered the blacklisted NCC Company stressed on maintaining the quality of the work in the flyover construction. State PWD Minister Badal Chowdhury on Sunday visited Tripura’s flyover construction site for the first time and laid emphasis of maintaining the quality of work as it is the vital need in any construction for public forum. When CPI-M has already preferred a black listed company for construction it in itself is a question on the quality and now the stress on maintaining the quality of the work is a total mockery. Rs 300 crore Agartala Flyover Project in now ongoing but no one knows how much Nagarjuna Constructions paid to ruling party funds in exchange of compromising quality of construction ? If Kolkata flyovers are collapsing due to substandard work by Hyderabad based tainted companies, then same may happen in Tripura too in future, for which Manik Sarkar Govt will be fully responsible.

On March 31st, 2016 at least 24 people died and over 100 got injured after Kolkata's Vivekananda flyover in the congested Posta area of northern Kolkata crashed which was being built by another tainted Hyderabad company IVRCL Infrastructures and Projects Ltd.

Against this company multiple cases listed nationwide for cheating, corruption, even Jharkhand Government recommended CBI probe in 2010 and blacklisted IVRCL for bribing former CM Madhu Koda to bag Rs 410-crore rural electrification project. However, talking to TIWN correspondent, NCC Construction Company Project Head Amit Mallik said that Minister Badal Chowdhury on Sunday started inspection from Fire Brigade Chowmuhani.

In the entire inspection session he mainly stressed on maintaining the quality of the work, added Mallik.

When asked about the status of the quality work to Mallik he said that ‘Maintaining the quality of the construction material is the top most priority of the company, effort is made to provide quality work, he added. With the aim to complete the construction work in the given deadline, flyover work is being carried out in full swing’, Malik further added.

As a part of the visit, Minister Chowdhury inspected the wielding machines, construction equipments, materials used for the construction and many other things. He further made enquiry about documentation of the constriction and also crossed the details regarding the third party engaged in the construction work.

However, after finishing his visit in the site he made a visit to the plant at Moloynagar where the majority of the preliminary work is carried out.

Question arises what is the purpose of stressing on maintaining the quality of the work when the work has almost progressed to a certain stage.

It is to be mentioned that, Tripura's CPI-M Govt awarded Rs 300 crore Agartala Flyover project to Hyderabad based Nagarjuna Construction Company (NCC) which was blacklisted by Pondicherry Govt in 2012 for indulging into massive irregularities which was unearthed by the Anti¬Corruption Branch of CBI in Chennai. Apart from that, Hyderabad based  Nagarjuna Construction company owner AVS Raju is relative and business partner of jailed corporate thief Ramlinga Raju, former Chairman of Satyam Computers.

So, one can imagine the fate of Tripura’s first flyover at Agartala as Manik Sarkar's CPI-M Govt. awarded Rs 300 crore flyover construction contract to a well known corrupt company.

In April, 2012, Puducherry Govt  PWD has blacklisted four construction companies and banned their official dealings with the PWD for a period of three years from the date of issue of notice for alleged irregularities in the construction of water treatment plants  at Yanam .
