AGARTALA, July 13 (TIWN): The ongoing Fuel crisis in Tripura from last 20 days has fully dried up state’s petrol pumps and initiated black marketing in various parts of the state.

Supply from neighbouring Assam by tankers has almost stopped due to dilapidated condition of the NH 44 in Assam-Tripura border. ‘No petrol, No diesel’ signs and long queues of bikers waiting for several hours is a common scenario in Tripura.

The National  Highway is the sole route which connects the state to the rest of the country, has gone it paralyzed stage and reportedly, five hundreds of vehicles are standing on the route as the road has turned to slush.

The pain is not one-sided, but the vehicle-drivers who have no place to go and the issue of their food and water supplies have also been exhausted.

Although it’s claimed that work has been started to renovate the road, but the unorganized work at NH-44 fueled to the problem and has totally paralyzed the NH-44.

As during the whole year the work was suspended, it was guessed that during monsoon the condition will be exactly like this.

The condition of Churaibari area inside Tripura across 1.5 km is also in dilapidated condition.

Although the Tripura Govt. officials and Assam Govt. officials  had visited the NH-44 on Lowarpoa part and inspected twice by DC Karimganj Manoj Kumar Deka and DSP J Ranadip Sharma following the ongoing crisis of fuel and food due to National Highway’s pathetic condition, but both the Govts are unable to sort out the problem.

However, along with the NH-44 issue the market is now heated up with illegal selling of fuels

Whereas no petrol sign is haunting the people of Tripura, the increasing black marketing has increased the problem of the people.

Recently,  talking to SDM  P Acharjee at Dharmanagar, he said, ‘Everyday 20-30 tankers entering in state’. But after entering of enough tankers, the reason behind petrol crisis is however unknown. This  unofficial blockade of fuel has forced illegal black markets to spring up around Tripura.
