AGARTALA, July 10 (TIWN): PWD Minister Badal Choudhury atlast woke up from deep sleep and managed time to visit Tripura’s first Flyover construction site for the first time. Badal Choudhury on Sunday began from Fire Brigade Chowmuhani visited various spots of flyover construction at Agartala.

Whereas the flyover construction is creating regular traffic jams from Battala and turned the roadway beside Flyover into a bad shape, PWD Minister has shown a sudden concern about the issue.

However, the flyover construction is emerging various controversies. On April 22, just after few days of Kolkata flyover collapsed, Tripura's 1st flyover project had failed important load-testing causing all sandbags collapsed in front of hundreds of commuters for a long day.

Tripura Govt.  awarded Rs 300 crores  Agartala Flyover project to Hyderabad based Nagarjuna Construction Company (NCC) which was blacklisted by Pondicherry Govt in 2012 for indulging into massive irregularities which was unearthed by the Anti¬Corruption Branch of CBI in Chennai.

After the Kolkata flyover had killed around atleast 24 people the controversy has hit Agartala’s ongoing project of Flyover under NCC company, which is alleged of many scams including the death of workers.

In flyover construction also NCC is well popular for corruptions. For example, For 5 years, the flyover had been lying in a miserable condition at Mysore. Reportedly, The authority had entrusted NCC Limited to construct a multi-level Nayandahalli flyover project on Mysore Road in 2010.  Work commenced in September 2010. The project duration was two years (including extension), but it took 5 years to complete.

The condition of Agartala’s half constructed flyover is also same. The working progress is pathetic and no way it is possible to finish the work within 2 years.

This is the journey of a school dropout who, in a span of 40 years, has built up a billion-dollar construction company and found himself a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. In A.V.S. Raju, the septuagenarian founder-chairman of the Hyderabad-based Nagarjuna Construction Company, corporate India has an achiever with a unique mix of abilities. However it was in the year 2012-13 when the company was suffering from losses hugely and took the project of 300 crore’s flyover.

Presently, many companies are closed after massive losses and allegations against the company.

Allegations are coming that as Tripura Govt. is fully controlling the project observation, without Central Govt.’s intervention, so the work is delaying.

For example when the present central govt. has taken the charge of rail-line here in Tripura, the works are getting finished in due time. But the state govt. on the other hand is unable to proceed many works in other sectors.

The 2.2 km flyover is since years is just causing the traffic jam at there. The state is acting as the mute spectator, whereas the central from Delhi is trying to take care of every projects here.

The state Public Work Department (PWD) the departmental engineers along with the entrusted Nagarjuna Construction Company (NCC) have taken up the construction work for building Rs. 300 crore flyover linking AD Nagar police lines with Fire Brigade Square in the city's busiest stretch of road, but the work is very slow and allegations are coming for poor quality’s works.
