AGARTALA, July 12 (TIWN): Although under NHM scheme, sufficient funds from the Central Govt. comes in Tripura, which are meant to preserve the health in rural areas people, but under Tripura Health Dept. to get the benefit of the service is a distant dream. Although Govt. claimed that in compare to the other states, diarrhea has been lessen in Tripura but criticism raised during the programme held on World Population Day-2016, at Rabindra Bhawan about the increasing various diseases as Anemia in rural areas, which occurs due to lack of iron, proper nutrition etc.

It was claimed by the Health Minister of Tripura Badal Choudhury himself when he was delivering his speech. However, whereas Tripura Health Dept. officials claimed for controlling diarrhea in state, but the health Minister asked them further why Tripura’s percentage is 21 % of diarrhea attack, whereas 2 other NE states have already controlled it with less than 14 %.

During his speech Minister puts all the blames on the Asha women for their negligence and not doing their works dedicatedly. He said, “It has been acknowledged that the iron tablets which are provided to prevent Anemia, are not properly distributed. Although they are asked to provide iron tablet to each family but report says they are not doing their duties properly which is resulting anemia in rural areas”.

He also mentioned that health dept agrees that Asha women are provided with less money, but Dept tries atleast to pay them Rs. 1000/- per month, and if they want they can earn Rs.3000/ to Rs. 4000/ per month by working dedicatedly.

(It’s to be mentioned here that by giving 1 family’s child medicine / ORS etc. they can earn Rs. 1). So Badal Choudhury mentioned if a Asha woman go to 300 families in a day they will get Rs. 300 per day. Question raising from Badal Choudhury’s comment is it possible for a Asha Women to find out  300 homes with kids and to aware them about health-care?

He also said, ‘Asha women prefers to stay in town areas, rather than rural areas, whereas rural areas need them more than town areas. But surprisingly they put their names in record books falsely’. Badal Choudhury however didn’t blame the NHM officials who maintain the record diary.

Sitting in air condition, there are health officials who do not feel it necessary to visit a village per week to check the real condition. Due to the negligence of the health dept. the situation remains unchanged.

The health Minister, Principal Secretary ends by  inaugurating a awareness rally, or one day workshop at the capital city. But they will demand full dedication from Asha workers or similar such workers who are paid Rs. 1 per their work.

Dept. is also shy to investigate how far medicines was distributed to the Asha women from the PHCs and NHM heads.

However, the above mentioned Anemia is a dangerous disease in which the red blood cell count or hemoglobin is less than normal. Lack of iron, nutrition, unhealthy body causes this dangerous disease. Tripura’s unhealthy life-style of tribal hamlets due to poverty and lack of observance causing this disease to a great extent, which may generate huge number of cancer patients in future.
