AGARTALA, July 5 (TIWN): Aftermath of deadly terror attacks in Dhaka killing 20 lives, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday called for all parties to play a constructive role in tackling terrorism and assured of a crackdown on cross-border smuggling of cattle and the opium trade. Banerjee also assured that post-Ramadan, the state government will ensure a crackdown on drugs trade and smuggling across Indo-Bangla border. Tripura Chief Minister concluded his Monday meeting at Agartala with DGP, few police officials and the Chief Secretary but so far State Govt’s stand is unclear. After 23 years of left-front regime in Tripura, state’s border areas remain hotbed for Bangladeshi Muslim mafias, smugglers as CPI-M’s minority appeasing politics continue. Young generation is victimized with increasing heroine, drug business, smuggling of all kinds of illegal items via state’s unsealed borders. Sonamura subdivision’s 9.5 km unfenced border, South Tripura’s 16 km and North Tripura’s unfenced borders are used by Bangaldesh’s JMB, HUJI, Jihadi elements for cross-border smuggling. Sonamura Boxnagar’s massive tea-garden shaped Ganja plantations, drug businesses fuel cross-border smuggling network.
Question rises about the role of CM, as appointment of Panna Ahmed kind of criminal as SDM of Sonamura has helped Ganja producers, smugglers.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar’s suspicious role behind promoting rapist Panna Ahmed as Joint Director of Sports, then CM’s direct role in shielding Minister Shahid Chowdhury’s criminal activities, whose wife not only directly involved with Sonamura’s dreaded smuggling rackets, also Shahid Chowdhury, Panna Ahmed’s relatives like Roman Mia, who is known as the Phensydyl smuggling king of Sonamura.
Rapist TCS officer Panna Ahmed, his brother-in-law Phensedyl smuggling mafia Roman Mia, HUJI terrorist Mamum Mia all belongs to Shahid Chowdhury’s Assembly constituency Boxnagar, Sonamura, also notoriously known for Tripura’s highest Ganja (Marijuana) productions.
Under the pressure of narcotics smugglers, Panna Ahmed was appointed as SDM Sonamura in place of upright SDM Subhashis Das as over Rs 100 crores Ganja fields were destroyed.
Also its Tripura CM who made a career criminal as Sports Minister rather than packing these smugglers into jail. Thus it’s no surprise that Tripura has become heaven for international drug smuggling rackets.
After the continuous hindu attacks at Dhaka WB Chief Minister said, "We strongly condemn the terror attack in Bangladesh. We share their pain and agony and stand beside Bangladesh. Instead of indulging in blame game, we must look at playing a constructive role in tackling terrorism," she said.
But Tripura CM is silent to raise his voice against Bangladesh Hindu killings due to appeasing minority vote banks especially from the constituencies like Sonamura. Manik Sarkar also an MLA of Dhanpur, under Sonamura Sub-Division.
Bangaldeshi terrorists slaughtered 22 people, including 18 foreigners, in Dhaka, questions are being raised about the efficacy of the mechanisms in Bangladesh to rein in militant threats. Owing to the government's feeble anti-militant drive, murders by militants take place on an almost daily basis.
Assailants severely injured a Hindu priest early on Saturday in southwestern Satkhira district, a day after the killing of another Hindu priest and a Buddhist man elsewhere. Earlier, two people, including a writer of an LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) magazine, were hacked to death in Dhaka, days after an English professor was shot dead in a separate incident. Local reports said that of over 13,000 rounded up within a week, only 200 were listed as militants. No militant ringleader has been arrested, raising questions about the efficacy of such a special anti-militancy drive.
From a political perspective, the sources have also claimed that the killings happened because the Bangladeshi Govt, state machinery ignored the threats for too long due to political convenience and administrative inefficiency. In one of the worst tragedies in Bangladesh's history, nine Italians, seven Japanese, two Bangladeshis, an Indian and a Bangladeshi-born American were among the 20 hostages hacked to death by the terrorists who stormed the upmarket restaurant on Friday night.
Bangladesh faces a growing threat of militant violence with a string of incidents this year including the killing of several liberal activists and attacks on minority Shias, a Christian priest and Hindu temples.
But surprisingly, in spite of knowing all these, Tripura CM is silent in condemning Islamic Jihadi violence or curbing their activity in Sonamura-Boxanagar region.
