KALYANPUR / BELONIA, Jan 21 (TIWN): Tripura is celebrating its 45th statehood day on Thursday. Lots of initiatives have been taken to observe this day with great fanfare.
The erstwhile princely states of Tripura and Manipur were merged with India in October 1949. Statehood Day is marked as a day when the union territory of Tripura finally attained statehood on January 21, 1972.
At Belonia, the District level programme was inaugurated by Minister Ratan Bhowmik at Belonia Town Hall. DM South, MLA Basudeb Majimder, Belonia Municipality Chairperson Subhra Mitra, SDM Belonia and other dignitaries were also present in the program. School Students , College Students and teachers were also participated in the program. To mark the occasion, a cultural programme was also staged.
At Kalyanpur, the spirit has been seen among the school students especially in rural areas.
In other subdivisions also statehood day has been observed with full enthusiasm.
