Irregularities and delay in the MGNREGA wages caused resentment
TIWN

KAILASHAHAR, Jan 20 (TIWN): Allegation has been raised against prolonged irregularities and delay of MGNREGA wages has been reported at the Bilaspur Panchayat.

Reportedly, due to prolonged irregularities in the area many of the MGNREGA workers are not getting their wages regularly.

Despite of working for several hours, the labours working under the MGNREGA scheme has been deprived from the deserving money.

On the other hand, GRS stated that the workers were already paid their deserved money before the Makar Sankranti without any Master roll. Besides, it has been alleged that as because most of the works were conducted with dozer that is why some of the workers were not given any wages.

Allegation has also been raised that the panchayat secretary and the GRS never visits the construction site. It has been mentioned that where many are not getting any payment for their work, there are workers who are being paid without doing anything.

However, since many days the allegation has been raised against the irregularities in the Panchayat but no initiatives has been taken yet to curb or to look into the matter.

According to the sources, Subal Malakar, Paresh Das and few others of ward number 6 has received their wages but not everyone.

However, the agitated workers are expected to place deputation to the authority to regularise their payment.

The MGNREGA, launched in 2005, mandates 100 days of employment in a financial year to at least one member of each rural household.

Meanwhile, Tripura topped all other states in implementation of MGNREGA providing 72 days of work per household in the outgoing fiscal year (2014-15) so far against the national average of 31.75 man-days.
