Massive 'fee-hike' in Tripura Medical Co | AGARTALA, June 22 (TIWN): Even though before the Election, BJP demanded to decrease to fees of Tripura Medical College (TMC), but recently after announcing Tripura Medical College is controlled by society, Health Minister Sudip Barman once again made it clear that TMC is totally controlled by society and the state govt has no right to dictate them. The issue was raised by CPI-M Ex-Health Minister Badal Choudhury in the Assembly first who said, “At a jump the fees of Tripura Medical College has been increased with 16 lakh course fee. Does it mean that this profession will be only for rich people ? In CPI-M Govt’s time the MBBS admission free was Rs. 5.5 lakh, whereas to complete the whole course it took around 22 lakhs rupees. Now suddenly the fee has been hiked at 9.5 lakhs rupees which will take Rs. 38 lakhs total to complete the whole course. Within 3 months of the BJP-IPFT Govt’s formation such a bigger shock was unexpectedâ€. 2 more arrested in Chandrapur shoot-out | AGARTALA, June 21 (TIWN): With state Police’s new drive against drug smuggling, hundreds cases related to drug business are exposing day by day. In Chandrapur shoot out case when one 26 years man named Debabrata Dasgupta was shot by miscreants, police arrested 5 persons earlier. With another development West District Police have today arrested one more person, whereas another was booked for investigation. The two persons were held today are Ranjan Roy and Amal Das. Among them Amal Das is an engineer by profession. A source said that the whole crime was centered with another big-racket of drug business and ganja smuggling. However, whether Debabrata himself was involved in the crime or not, it has not been known even though police's beginning source of information was Debabrata himself. Police's arrest rows started within 24 hours of the incident which had taken place on June 17, when few miscreants had shot Debabrata Dasgupta at Chandrapur in broad day light. Tripura CM Biplab Deb to order 'probe' i | AGARTALA, June 21 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb who once blacklisted HSCL company for poor construction of roads in Tripura along with ordering few suspensions on March 13, 2018 of state govt officials, has now announced for proper inquiry of the whole matter. In the Assembly Chief Minister Biplab Deb claimed that almost all the roads constructed under HSCL, have left in deplorable shape. CM raised question, why such a company was given with the tender for state’s roadmap ? In reply to CM’s query, Ex-CM Manik Sarkar said, this company has no link with the state govt but it was central govt who handed over the projects to state govt. Manik Sarkar also claimed, since 2014 all roads and projects were controlling by central govt and state govts left hardly with any scope for discussion. It can be recalled that on March 13, during Gandachera (Dhalai Dist) visit, Chief Minister Biplab Deb had suspended few Govt employees on spot.
